that is crazy William. He said it still may stay in Hawaii, So we will just have to pray for that as he really would not like Norfolk.

Yes, they would.

My son JUST got moved to Pearl Harbor and now they are thinking of dry docking his boat to Norfolk!!! They really would not move him again clear back east??

Thanks for the "housing" info.  I'm thinking that except for some clothes, maybe some kitchen stuff and a box of DVDs he won't be taking much more than he already has in his room in Groton. I think after being away for a year and a half, he might be ready to part with some stuff (like his massive free pint beer glass collection).

Since we live in Georgia and he's going to Seattle, we've got some decisions to make.

Another question?  I'm an Army brat and we moved every 6 months to 3 years (mostly 1-1.5 years).  Do submariners transfer bases similarly?

My son is ITS (Information Technician Submarines). F school is also called SUBLAN (Submarine Local Area Network).  It is computer stuff specific to the submarines they will be working on.  It's about another 6 weeks long.  His class and their submarines schedules worked out so that they went to F school instead of reporting to their assignments.

Cybergrouch, my son is in Bangor, WA (I think they are next to each other). He also lives in the "barracks". I am not sure if they are all the same but his has 2 bedrooms (4 guys 2 guys to a bedroom) then the bedroom as a bathroom. They all share a kitchen and living area. They kitchen is pretty much full size (no dishwasher). I have sent some pots and pans and cooking utensils. He uses paper plates. I think the living area has sofa and chair. My daughter went to visit and said the bed is very small. She said smaller then a single. Both my kids had full size beds so anything smaller then that is tiny for them. She said he really doesn't have a closet and I think they have some storage under his bed. I would wait and see what he might need. My son did take his skis back with him this last visit and he keeps them in the corner of the living area. The 3 guys that he lives with are not on his boat so at times he does have the whole place to himself.

My son will graduate from F school at Groton soon and will be on a sub out of Bremerton, WA. He says he will be in on-base housing (probably a barracks) and I was wondering what his accomodations will be like.  Actually I'm wondering how much of his stuff he's is going to need to take with him (or I can send with him so I can make me a Mom Cave out of his room) :D

They save garbage for this event and apparently they saved red garbage for the red headed sailors.  It is a disgusting tradition. Google it and you can watch videos.
