For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by Mark on April 15, 2015 at 1:17pm: jedb1962 - Unless your son has enlisted for the Nuclear Power training program, he is designated to be one of the other two kinds of machinist mates that are assigned to subs, and will be going to Groton for sub school and A school as Shea said. For you and bcgoldy03, there are three types of machinist mates on subs - nuclear trained MMs, who go to Charleston SC for nuclear training; auxiliary machinist mates, and weapons machinist mates. The latter two both go to Groton, and get the same basic training first, then more specialized training. There is more detailed info under 'Pages' above and to the right, by clicking 'Meet the Crew of a Submarine'.

Comment by ELO.Navy.Mom on April 15, 2015 at 1:12pm: My son is also a Machinist Mate sub and he went straight to Groton from Basic for all of his classes left on Saturday after Basic graduation - has completed BESS and one additional class, has one more class to finish before he gets his assignment.

Comment by Micah's mom on April 15, 2015 at 1:11pm: jedb1962 - my son went to A school in Charleston, Goose Creek, South Carolina. After A school they have a choice for prototype to stay at Goose Creek or go up to Boston spa New York. And by choice I mean wherever they decide to send them.

Comment by bcgoldy03 on April 15, 2015 at 1:08pm: My son is also a Machinist Mate submarine and he did his A school (nuclear power school also) in Goose Creek S.C. near Charleston directly from boot c. He graduated bc and was gone to S.C. by 4 a.m. the next day. Btw, he loved his time in S.C. and often thinks he wants to move there one day.
