Congrats bcgoldy03! Yes a big accomplishment and cause for celebration! My son saved the dolphins he was pined with to give to me the next time he's home. Made me cry that he did that for me! Wishing your son continued success!

bcgoldy, congrats to your son. It is such a big deal to no longer be a nub, oh the perks that they get.

Congrats bcgoldy03!!!  I can't wait for that call about the dolphins!!!  Info on the halfway boxes:  one of the items I sent was individual containers of peanut butter.  When it arrived, the stock of pb had been depleted on the sub.  My son was so grateful!!!

My NavyMom friends,

I am so happy and wanted to share my news with those who will most understand my celebrating that my sailor finally earned his Dolphins!! He just returned from underway and gave me a call to let me know about his "fish" ! Yahoooo! No more NUB. He was so pleased to tell me that he was able to watch 2 whole movies on the underway! This group has provided so much information, education, and support for me, especially when he was away on a very long surge deployment with no communication this was all I had to make me feel in touch. Thank you Moms, Grandmoms, and the few Dads too!!

Karen10801, I know what you mean. I can't stand not being able to text each other, or phone each other whenever the mood strikes us. I'll really miss not hearing from him when he leaves sometime next week for who knows, how long.

How nice of your DIL to include you in adding something to the "halfway box" for your son. Very thoughtful indeed!

Really missing my son these past few days.  He's been "out" the past 3 weeks.  Supposed to return next week.

 Queenjailyle,

Please read the "Page" (file) titled, "Halfway Boxes & Mail Drops."  You'll find it in the far, right-hand column.  There's lots of info re: these events, and the Ombudsman or FRG (Family Readiness Group) has the specifications for your son's "box."  Sometimes, it can be a shoebox-sized container, or perhaps a gallon Ziploc, or even just a 9x12 FLAT manila envelope.  Your DIL should be able to tell you what is best for this patrol.  We all send big hugs with yours!
