I know my son is busy getting ready to go back out but really can he not send an ok to a text?  Sent a couple of text the past 2 weeks and nothing.  Then again maybe he is already out under the water.  Just feeling a bit sad lately.  Hope everyone else has heard from their Sailors lately.  Have a great weekend.

Same here Sandy... Last time I saw them in uniform, was for their graduation. Won't see either of my boys in uniform again, unless it's military related & I'm there for whatever reason!

Kevsmom too funny about the costume but if you think about it is true LOL.

It was a lot of planning to get this trip together.  We were all suppose to travel to Maine to visit them and to see the new baby but when my Mom's doctor told her she probably should not travel because of some health issues she was having, she was so upset she could hardly talk to tell me she could not go.  So my son being who he is said "well then we will just take the trip to grandma" so it all involved from there.  We all pitched in to fly the kids here to Arizona and then we will drive to Colorado and surprise Mom with the kids. It actually ended up cheaper for all of us this way, it is a win win. We are all so excited.

My daughters big plan is too have my grandson (sailor) put the baby in his carrier on the front porch ring the doorbell and hide behind the side of the house.  I am not sure if that is what we will do LOL, My son who is 43 is already there so a least we could let him know of the plan.  ha ha ha.  My idea is to just let the 3 years old Emma get out of the car first.  Will keep you updated on how we handle it.  Either way she will be very surprised and happy.

My grandson's wife is the one that wants him to wear the camo work uniform for the pictures and she even said she would pack them if she had too.

lol...Kevsmom...it was funny reading your sons' comments on costumes.  The thing is, and they'll realize it eventually, is their dress uniforms, worn almost exclusively for ceremony, are basically costumes, and were designed as such, though often incorporating martial symbolism - the red stripe on the Marine trousers being a good example.  Just google "Zouave", an elite unit in the Union army early in the Civil War, and the costume aspect of military uniforms are clear.  Good luck, maybe gently point out to them that thirty years on, they'll enjoy seeing the reminder of their prime years.

Nana Donna This sounds like an incredibly long and busy trip for you and getting your family together. I bet it's taken some planning on everyone's behalf! A family photo what an awesome idea! I understand getting your Sailor to pose for a picture in uniform (any uniform!) Unless it was our Sailor's graduation or our younger son's graduation from MCRD that was our only opportunity. My boys (one is a Marine) both say it's not a costume Mom we're not playing dress-up so you can take pics! WHY NOT!! LOL!  Just a couple.....pretty please?  So good luck! I hope you can get him to do it say it would make grandma's so very happy ;-D Let's just put it out there...guilt him into it!

TwinSailors - thanks I have put your number in my cell phone.  If you head to Ouray I will  give you a call.  It would be great to get together but when you have that many people I am not making any promises.  All the :boys" want to go fishing I am hoping they will get to while we are at the vacation ranch in Cedaredge.
