CO-Twin SailorsMom - Question for you.  Is one of your sailors on the USS Florida?

Wow Mainmom, you must be so proud. How long has he been in the navy?

I am getting very excited to go for the Power
School Graduation. I leave on the 28th. Then he will be coming home with me for leave!!! Will see if he sticks to his game plan, but he wants to serve on a sub, reup for sub again, then go for officer. He wants career. We will see if the government still allows that and if there still in a pension at the end of a career? Sure wish Washington would fins other ways to cut than cutting our military, those guys and gals deserve all they get and then some.

That's awesome ladies you must be very proud of your son's! I've heard becoming a nuke is a very long and arduous amount of training. There is a mom on Hawaii Mom's who was explaining all of her son's accomplishments recently I need to find it and share it with you here, very interesting.

Co Twin I saw Down Periscope when it was originally released and haven't seen it since. I know it's on Netflix and I need to watch it again :-) But I can't recall details such as the scene you're describing, sounds pretty funny.

I think we got an invite for the Power School.  It was a few years ago.  I went down on the train with my friend in law (dil mom) as hubby was unable to go.  Great graduation.  He also went to Ballston Spa after that.  Our son is a nuc officer so he does a little bit of everything.

Hi Moms

My son is a MM (machinists mate) responsible for the propulsion part of the nuclear reactor. I too received an invite to the Power School graduation in Goose Creek (Charleston) SC and it was a wonderful ceremony giving the graduates a wonderful pat on the back for completing this incredibly difficult program. It was very official and had important high ranking speakers etc...as well as awards for distinguished performance in certain areas. After that it was on to Prototype school for my son in Ballston Spa NY (Saratoga) which he loved and lived there for a little under a year before graduating and getting assigned to his sub.

Kevsmom...did you see the movie down periscope? Your son's job like the guy who electrocuted himself to connect the radio? My twins friend from here is training for sonar. He said that was just like his job LOL.

It must be just for power school. I was surprised when it came. It was from the CO of NNPTC and Said Official Business on it. Son asked if that gave me a minor heart attack LOL. I did not get one for his Twins Graduation and I never heard of anyone else getting one. So must just be power school. Funny thing is he still has a year to a year and half to go to finish nuke school. Power school is in the middle.

He is STS/ Sonar Tech Submarine he graduated A school on May 8th.

Just curious about the invitation to graduation? Is that typical only for that his job class? I don't remember any mom's ever mentioning receiving invitations to their sons graduation.
