I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

Sash, my sailor put in leave for our wedding (October 16) in early Sept. He was told he would get it ... I had invitations printed, glasses engraved. Then his leave was taken away so we had to cancel the wedding. EXTREMELY DEPRESSING!!! Now I'm going to him to get married so he doesn't have to worry about leave and I won't stress as much... I wish you well in wedding planning!

How long has your sailor been in?
Comment by luvinmatt on September 28, 2010 at 7:44pm
We have been in drydock before from 2006-2008 in Va. I still doubt they will give him leave that far in advance. We went to Jamaica while we were in drydocks, I want to say they approved his leave chit about a month before we were scheduled to leave. It has been so long ago...lol You also have to keep in mind that since he is not qualified they may send him to another boat for 6 months to get his fish. We had quite a few people who had to do that, to either get qualified or keep the quals up to date. If I were him I would just keep reminding his chief periodically that he is getting married in July of 2011, that way if they are going to send him somewhere they can knock it out now.

Sash, I dont know any command that is going to give leave that far in advance. There is no telling what will go on in the time between now and then. Good Luck. I hope it all works out for you.

hey ladies so im getting married next july. and my sailor is going to start to fill out paperwork to ask for leave.. from experience does anyone know if they usually grant them leave to get married. he hasnt gotten his fish yet, they told him once he gets it, it should be easier to take leave... im just nervous that we r going to pay all this money for a wedding and he wont get to come home
