I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

msgia- They won't transport the single guys cars but they will married. I would have him check with the PSD office here on base. The women that work in there are amazing, helped me a ton with the move and understanding everything. Yeah that is the good thing about the flight, although my vet suggest using Benadryl for driving. It worked really well. So if you have to drive maybe give that a shot.

Janie-ProudSailorWife- Ok, I'll have to find out, because my husband was told that we would have to transport that car ourselfs, and I thought that was a bit off. They have to know that we have cars and we arent just going to leave them. LOL. As for my animals, ya flying them would be best for us. They would freak on the drive, at least with the flight, I can give them something to help calm them and it wouldnt be a week trip for them.

msgia85 - I drove here but they should allow one car to be transported and pay for it along with the move. I drove because I have a large dog so I'm stumped on that one for you. I know that you can put them in a carrier though and fly, but they would be down below the plane. My dog would have freaked out.

Hi there, has anyone had to transport a car or animals? Need help on finding the right way to do that.

Starlightsail- I know the feeling I was the exact same way. My husband got here late Feb like the 23 I think it was and I moved up here the last week of April. So around 2 months. When he starts BESS, BESS is 8 weeks long and you can start getting everything processed his last week of class when his new orders are posted with you listed to move. I hope that helped, if you have any questions feel free to email me. I know it's really frustrating at first. They told my husband that they would take the married guys the last week of BESS and help them with everything and they didn't, we had to learn it all on our own.

One thing to be careful about is making sure they do NOT pack the things you don't want packed. Before they arrive take out the garbage (they have been known to pack full garbage cans), make sure the washer and dryer are empty, put your suitcases and important papers in your car.

If you have a cat, make sure the cat is in a cat cage in a "safe" place. Cats have been known to jump into boxes, fall asleep and get packed into the truck.

msgia85 - If you plan on the Navy moving you don't do anything. They send movers in and they pack everything and ship it up here. Everything has to be packed in boxes per Navy regulations. I like to have things started as well so I had started packing everything in our tots. The poor movers had to unpack and repack everything. I would wait till he gets his new orders. He should have them about a week before he graduates. Oh and when you fly and if you stay in a hotel here until you get a house keep your receipts, they will reimburse for that.

Janie-Sorry, its taken so long to get back to you. Life has been crazy. I do have a few questions, because I will be moving after he is done with BESS. So did you start getting everything ready before he got his orders for you to be able to go? I'm the type that likes to get things in place pretty early, but am not sure if I can go ahead and start the process or if I need to wait for him, as far as making arrangements for the move, planning a flight, etc. Any advise would be great. Thanks

msgia85 - I am looking for more of a clerical position that is what I have experience mostly in. I have done management as well as accounting. I went to FFSC and they had me look through a book of listings. I really didn't see much that caught my eye. I'm going to go back on a weekly basis and check in though. Good luck with everything and if you have a questions feel free to ask. I just went though the first move with the Navy a couple weeks ago and it can be a lot of stress the first time, but so worth it.

Comment for Janie- What kind of work are you looking for? E.G. Retail, Food Service, Managment. I will moving up also when my hubby is done with BESS. I've been looking for a job also. I've looked at Craigslist, Monster, Jobing.com. Also I think the FFSC, I could be wrong on the name, I'm still learning, they can also help with spouse employment, wether it be on or off base.
