For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

debotur, Plan to send lots of mail. Even if he gets e-mail, they love getting cards and letters. You can send articles from your local paper, it helps them stay connected while they are away. Its always good to send them something to give them a good laugh.

As far as I know they can have one. My husband keeps a car my son gave him in his pocket at all times so I would think your sailor could keep a pocket watch. :)

Thank you for responding marks wife! I'll be working 6 days a week and studying for my finals so I will be a busy bee :)! Quick question though: are they allowed to wear pocket watches? I'm planning on getting him a nice pocket watch that I'm having engraved and also set the time for california time so he always knows what time it is here when he calls me

Debotur- stay busy busy busy. Don't fret and worry or wallow in self pity. It does you no good. Set goals for yourself, start an arts and craft project (or many). Keep your chin up :) I've seen my husband for 5 weeks in the last year and a half and we have survived. Its been a rough journey but its brought us closer than you can imagine:)

My bf leaves for his first deployment next month, he isn't allowwd to say to where and not sure how long :( he barely graduated bootcamp in march and I haven't gotten to see him nor will I be able to until after his deployment any, advice on how to get through it?:(

Oh girl, I've been there. I don't know what happened to your VM, but I've had that happen. If he called you from where ever, then chances are he'll try again. So, charge the phone and be patient. I bet he already knows you love him.
BTW, Venting is Good.

He called today and my phone was dead...Can you believe that??! I was in class from 9am-8pm and got home plugged up my phone texted his mom then saw my missed call and the tears started rolling.. it was such a shock because he said I wouldnt hear from him in weeks. Im so upset that I missed the call yet at the same time Im so happy to know hes safe. and Im happy to have the vm even though all I can decipher from the call is very limited since there was so much static or wind or whatever it was that I couldnt hear... ive played the message like 30 times already just to hear him say he loves me over and over. ughhhh totally upset that my phone was dead... I really cant believe I missed an opportunity to tell him I love him =(

OK, I know exactly what he does in the Navy. You should be extremely proud of him. He is after all, the best of the best. You are in the only group of girlfriends or wives that have less communications than those of us with sailors on Fast Attack Subs.
All I can say is the Navy saying, "No News is Good News!" is your best friend. I wish I could say that friends outside the Navy might some day understand, but they won't. We are here for you whenever you need to talk.

I dont think he's doing either. Im not supposed to say that his unit is deployed for their safety, but hes in air/ on land i guess you could say. But it wont get better, unfortunatley. He expressed that to me before he left. Just something to get used to for the time being. /sigh.

ILivLaughLuvU, Is your boy friend on a surface ship or a sub? If he's on a surface ship the communication should get better. Subs are a whole different animal.
Either way, we all understand what you are feeling. I am not only a Navy Mom. I was a Navy girlfriend and then a Navy wife.
