Yay for visits! Praying for safe travels for all
Cece so glad ya'll are having a great visit!! My son deploys this weekend from Norfolk Va. After this deployment he is hoping to be reassigned to San Diego since they are decommissioning(SP) his ship the USS Enterprise,
We have had a great week with our son who is home from being deployed for 7 months. Am already dreading this weekend when he has to head back to San Diego! Pray for a safe trip!
Lala I toldly understand!!! The minute those big white doors started roling up my tears started rolling down & didnt stop until I had my son in my arms again.
Thanks Rhonda! I am sooo ready. I believe I will be taking a bunch of hankies because I just watched videos from previous PIRs and cried like a baby! My kid wasn't even in there! lol
lala So excited for you!! Graduation is the BEST!! Make sure you take a hanky because you will need it!! LOL Be sure & enjoy your time with your sailor..
My sailor deploys at the end of the week. So not looking forward to the next 7-8 months. Upside is we have email now & my son is pretty good about emailing me daily while out to sea.
It took me about 2 weeks to stop being totally consumed by the idea that I did not have control over this situation. If my eyes were open, I was thinking about my son...wondering if he is eating ok, if his allergies were kicking his butt, if these navy people really knew how to take care of my kid! After I started getting letters on a regular basis, he only consumed half of my waking hours instead of all. At the end of week 3 I got a very brief call and that really helped. Maybe that will be your "adjustment" lol. I had a short time of contintment, but now its back to consuming my every waking moment. In these last weeks, I have gotten few letters (and this is typical) because they are so busy preparing for battlestations that they really don't have any free time. I have clung to this site and the facebook pages looking for updates from the people that did get letters. My phone goes with me everywhere and I check fb every 5 or 10 minutes looking for those updates. I leave a week from today....whew!
Well Ladies, I am almost in the homerun stretch. 12 days (11 and a few hours) away from PIR. The time has really gone by so fast-after the first couple of weeks. I remember wanting any piece of information from my son and crying a lot at first. Once the adjustment period was over, things settled down, and now I am just a little over a week away from leaving the big ole city of Mason to head north! I am so excited!
