Sleep is all teenagers hobbies. Lol. Most of the boys whose A school is in Florida leave the same day as graduation unfortunately. Josh's was there in Great Lakes so I was lucky enough to have 4 days with him, which was not long eough. Now count the days to see him again once he is back from deployment.

Thanks Pam, for letting me know about the stamps. I was wondering about that. He is on ship 03 div 089. I know he will probably just want to sleep back at the hotel. That is one of his favorite hobbies lol. He goes to Florida for A school, so we won't have much time. I will be disappointed if all he wants to do is sleep haha

I appreciate all the info everyone is sharing. My son in law and brother in law are both army but I don't keep up with all the goings on. It's a lot different when it is your flesh and blood embariking on this adventure. I am so glad there is a place to go for support and questions.

I didn't get my "I'm a sailor" call until I was already in GL!!

When I got the "i am a sailor" phone call a bunch of them were eating at subway on base and then loaded up on as much junk food as they could consume before heading back. Lala...you will need to find out what division and what "ship" he is on. You will have to download a pass to get on base but you have to know the ships name. I never got the info from my son I had to ask one of the other moms in josh's division. Make sure you send plenty of stamps in your letters and what ever you do don't send a singing card. Lol. They get PT'd. Also we stayed in Gurnee at the La Quinta. It is close to base, yet surrounded by plenty of restaurants and the mall. Depending on where your sons school will be will depend on how much time you will have with him. Don't be surprised is all he wants to do is chill at your hotel. And your first meal with him...he will be done before you take your first bite. It was an amazing experience. My son is on his first deployment. I hate not knowing where he is but I am one proud mom.
