I can maybe fly to Houston easily if I know a week or so in advance and someone could pick me up at Bush for a meet and greet!

Shadesofpurple when does or did he graduate? That's a long time to wait!

We stayed at the courtyard in Waukegan

Rhonda I know what you mean. We have been lucky that are son had been stationed in SA for so long but this last time was harder as we did not know of he would be back before his next station. He is a surgical tech and his next station is fl. Is your son assigned to a marine unit?

Maria~ I do okay now its like every other time he leaves I will cry. This one was hard knowing It will be almost a year before I see him again. He is on an underway right now getting ready to deploy again. This will be his second deployment in his 2nd year of service.

They sent us a list of hotels that gave military discounts for the family. We had no issues with the Red Roof Inn It is an older hotel but it was clean & thats all that matters to me really.

Rhonda you did much better than i did. I did not cry in front of him when i dropped him off at the recruiters, but the whole 30+ mins home was another story. Lol. He us my only child and when I got home and saw his room. Flood gates opened up again. I have gotten much better over the last. 11 months.

Brenda and Pearl, Thank you for you advice. If you knew me personally, you would realize how accurate it is to recommend a "towel" vs. tissue. :)

I will check out that Ramada when I have the date. Is it in Great Lakes also?

Maria~ You got it right with the big white doors!! I had been so proud of myself I didn't cry when he left & I didnt cry until those doors started up. Then it was like Niagra falls!!! They didnt stop till I got to go on the floor & get my first hug from my son who went in the Navy a kid & when I saw him he was a young man!!
