Thanks for the responses. Both my boys are Navy. The oldest which is in BC now is planning on being a SeaBee-construction electrician. The youngest who leaves Jan 23rd for BC is going to be a gunners mate. I haven't gone more then 2 days tops of ever not speaking to my boys so this is tough. The box we received didn't have everything he took in it so we have been watching for another box but nothing yet, he may of donated the rest. I have a stack of letters waiting to be sent. I read that i can ask recruiter to find his address possibly so I am going to go by there today and see if he can. Thanks again for the responses, it really helps.
Kuykendal19... Most of us are not there now, but some things never leave your memory. What you will see in your sailor at PIR will amaze you. Write them often, send cartoons and anything that can encourage them PRAY for them. We will go the distance with you here.
All here that get their sailors for Christmas... enjoy. I am happy for you.
Hey everyone. My son arrived at bootcamp Dec 1st, we got one box so far but no address. I am missing him so much. My other son leaves Jan 23rd. I am so new to all this that it's driving me crazy waiting on mail man everyday. Anyone else in that range?
My children always remind me of the many decorations I put out, year after year... they love it and always ask me where "such and such is this year?", so even if they don't come home I have to take photos. My oldest only lives 20 minutes away and he didn't come last year or bring my grandsons... I told him he could never do that again! Especially as we do live so close! My Sailor will be home in 8 days or so! Merry Christmas!
Amen to that!
Thanks Rhonda and Alysa good advice. Yes we are going to PIR Jan 6, 2012 and we just found out we could adopt our recuit, so we will see him for Christmas and we are ecstatic. What a difference a day makes. Information I found out on Navy for Mom's.
Ah ladies - your child is off living his dream - working to become a man or woman of substance. He or she would NOT want you at home forsaking your holiday traditions and pining away. We have to honor them buy living OUR lives! It is so hard. Nobody told us that we would have to rip out a part of our hearts when our children grew up and moved away. Especially our children - we raised nobel warriors - they are a special breed. It is going to be hard to not have our children home during the holidays but we have to be strong and we have to continue to live. Some of us have kids at home that deserve to have their holiday - my daughter misses her brother every day! Enjoy your holiday - celebrate this season! Be proud of your child! Plan for PIR or homecomings!
PIR is great - you will be amazed at the man you meet - he won't be a little boy anymore!
