debschnell~ I understand about not being in the mood to decorate. I didnt do anything til the week of christmas last year & the way things are going looks like this year is a repete. My mom gave me a lecture last night because U do have a 15yr. old still at home & a grandson that comes over. But it is so hard. I am one of the lucky ones my son will be home on the 27th of Dec. just like last year. So I have got to have him home for the holidays both years that he has been in. My youngest is in our towns Christmas Parade this weekend so maybe that will jump start my holiday spirit & we will decorate this weekend!!!

Take Care!!!

Just heard from my sailor. He sounded great. I love to hear his voice. It will be wonderful to look at his face and hug his ruddy neck. I am again thankful for the technology that allows me to talk to him while he is out floating around on the seas. My prayers for all the families of deployed sailors during the holidays. I imagine this first year with him away will be the hardest. I still just look ahead to his return.

I don't feel like decorating for Christmas this year.  Our sailor is our only grandchild, and my husband and I raised him.  So, the house is empty, and we're going to join family in Ft. Worth.  There is nothing I can do but take it one day at a time, and put it in my God box as others have suggested.  I'm so grateful for my marvelous husband, and it helps to cover my devoted little Chihuahua with hugs and kisses.  I'm so glad we have N4M.

Happy Tuesday morning Texas Ladies.....

CDMom ~ just take it one day at a time. Remember the Navy moto "No news is GOOD news"! Keep saying continued prayers.

My favorite is "If GOD will bring you to it; He will bring you through it"!

PIR is an awesome experience that will forever warm your heart!

This is the first time our son has been away for the holidays, all three major holidays and I am having a really hard time.  We've only had one thirty second phone call in since he left October 31 and we missed the other one.  we get one sometimes two letters a week.  I keep giving him to God, but my heart still hurts something terrible.  He is coming to the end of boot camp.  I keep my eyes on January 6th, which I am so looking forward to.  Thanks Brenda I am putting it in my God will handle it box.  Because there is so much I don't know.  Good to hear from you mom's who have been at this a long time.  It helps we newbees.

Good afternoon Texas Ladies ~

I agree, those emails and phone calls are so meaningful :-) We skyped (mostly) with our Navy RP son when he was on his first deployment - but I know that is not always possible, depending on where they serve.  ALL of our sons are serving, now, Marines and Navy - and I think, like many of you, that it'll be a while before they all get to be home for Christmas. I, too, am thankful for our upstanding daughters and sons who serve - may God bless and keep them safe :-)

It was good to get email from my son on deployment today.  He was wishing me a happy birthday!  He has been gone since August.  We missed him at Thanksgiving and now for Christmas!  He has been in for 7 years now and has been able to be here for Christmas only twice. We do miss him, but we are sooo proud of his service as we are of all who serve!
