Matt's Mom - Since you know what you need, would a cash donation be better for you?

For everyone attending the dinner in San Antonio tomorrow we will also be packing care packages to send to our October group.  The theme is "Christmas on the USS Ingraham" .  We are sending them the small Priority boxes filled with goodies.  Some of the items being sent are movies, games, cards, puzzle books and snacks.  We are 50 boxes short of each sailor getting their own package so if you have anything to include bring it with you and the postage will be paid for with our Pepsi Refresh Grant funds.

Whoo Hoo!!  Navy Moms excited as well!  We have a special mom coming from Georgia also!! Can't wait!!  Not sure which I am more excited about (1) meeting an "old" friend again, (2) meeting some "new" Navy moms (that I haven't met yet) or (3) dinner with an Admiral and some other Navy people!!  and (4) getting to spend about 10 hours in the car with some special Navy moms!

True THAT Eaglemom!!  Thanks for the reminder!

Queenjailyle - I would MOST definitely bring your son.  It would be a GREAT time for him to talk to people and ask questions (and maybe meet some people)!!

My son didn't plan or ever talk about wanting to go to college until the last year of high school. He didn't have the grades needed to go to college. So he decided to join the Navy and get some real life experience, on the job training and use the funds they allow latere for a college degree. I'm sure his skills he will get going to A school for avaiation mechanics will be a great start.

Our son, Kyle, tried college---3 different ones!  He had been an all state trumpet player, he auditioned and was accepted into the Baylor music department, but when he go there, he realized he did not want  that!  We had both worked and saved money to educate him, but he discovered after 3 years that college wasn't for him!  So, we told him he must get a job to support himself.  Then a friend who joined the Navy out of high school came home on leave.  He was so mature and happy that Kyle joined and the rest is history!

My nephew chose to go to aircraft mechanics school instead of college and now has a terrific management level position.  Our kids can learn wonderful skills in the Navy that will serve them well.  My father-in-law was a Navy flight instructor during WWII.  He taught Tyrone Power to fly, if any of you are old enough to remember that drop dead gorgeous movie star!
