Brenda Sue~just debating on if I should bring my son to dinner. Wasn't sure of protocal being new to the Navy. What is your thought?

PNM, that is a great choice for long-term career as well as Navy! Many options! Depending on what "birds" he takes care of will determine all the different locations he can go. Being new, he will be learning basic repair/maintenance for everything!  My Dad during WWII thought that because he was able to fly so many different planes at age 17 that they would send him to Europe, but they didn't, they made him a flight instructor!  He flew with the RAF for the six months before Pearl Harbor.

Brenda Sue --- I agree.  Dressly casual sounds great with me.  Thanks for the help.

Debschnell, traveling 12 hours for dinner makes me want to dress casual - but you are right - the Navy people will be in their dress uniforms - so I feel that we should dress nice also.  Also, it seems to be in a nice place - so casual dressy?

Brenda Sue --- Could you please confirm what we should wear for the SA dinner? I assume the Navy personnel will be in their dress uniforms, so want to be appropriate. Thanks.  P.S.  My computer has been down for a week, so if I missed a prior msg re this, I apologize for asking again.

Donnanavymom/Ship 12 Div. 378 lives in League City (or that area) - she is meeting us on IH-10!  We still have room for one more in my car!

We live off I-10 and Voss, and have room to stash a car if anyone needs to do so. Just let me know in advance so I can make room. Can't wait to meet all you Navy moms in San Antonio.

Cece - I am hoping my son will enjoy his Navy life once he gets into it as well.  He's not my baby.  I have a 16 year old still at home, but when you've had them so for so long, it's a hard thing to let go.  And I'm having a hard time doing that.

Good morning!  PNM, my son is a helicopter mechanic and has been in the Navy for 7 years.  He is on his 3rd deployment.  He has really enjoyed the challenge of being in the Navy.  He is our "baby" and we never get used to the fact that he has to have permission to come home!  He has been stationed in San Diego North Island for his whole 7 years!  Even when he changed command he stayed there!  We love it, but don't get out there very often.  It costs a lot to visit there!
