PNM, we live in North Texas. Where are you?

BrendaSue - I wish I could go with ya'll but I am saving the last few vacation days that I have left for this year to go see my SR at PIR.  Thanks for thinking of me though.  I appreciate it very much.

Depending on what your Sailors job will be PNM... he could be stationed in Corpus Christi. If his job is something that can be in with the Army/Air Force/or any of the other services he could wind up anywhere! My Sailor is going nuke, so their are fewer stations for his beloved submarines!  I will be thinking and praying for all those that are driving to San Antonio to meet with the Admiral! Have fun and post your photos, please!  My Sailor comes home on Saturday for his very first visit home since he PIRd on 4/1/11! HooYah!

PNM, we have a mom coming from League City to ride with us to San Antonio.  It would do you good to come with us and meet some seasoned Navy Moms as well as an Admiral!  Want to?

My son will never be close enough to visit that often as we live in Texas and there isn't a Naval base anywhere near here (that I know of). It would be great if we lived near an area where there are Naval Bases.  I'm hoping at some point that he gets sent to San Diego because I would love to go visit there!  It's going to be a few more weeks/months before I can make myself go up and clean his room and get his things ready to send to wherever he lands up.

Craning his room was the tough thing. My husband was driving me crazy as we had promised our soon to really set it up nice for him. I cried like crazy when I found his swimming awards from the Y. After that I stopped and waited another 3 weeks or so before I went back in. It hit me the day he left for book camp was the day he truly moved out. He comes home now when he can for a few days. We are lucky that he is about a 6 hr drive from us. I figured take advantage of seeing him now as God knows where he will be assigned once he graduates C school in February . ZZsMom, you hit it right on the nail. That is what we want for our kids. My son loves what he is doing - surgical tech. He has matured so much. It does get easier every time we see him and then have to part ways. Now I get sad for a bit and teary eyed but at least I don't cry anymore. It is nice getting to talk and text him.
