I could not go in my daughters room until about a week before PIR to pack her electronics. By that point it was much easier. She has been at school 3 weeks now and I find myself in and out of there all the time when I buy something to ship to her or when she gives me a list of things to send her. It has gotten easier to go in and leave but missing her really has not changed. I think this is what military life is about. But it will be okay...I know the Navy will be sending my little girl back to me as a responsible self sufficient woman and that is what all parents should wish for...I know I do.

1windhaven - I haven't cleaned his room out yet. Can't find myself doing that until he is out of A school and has his assignment.

PNM, just keep yourself busy. At least you have another child at home who needs you. Once you get to a school it will be much easier. I remember going through the same thing. Crying each time I entered my son's room. Especially when I had to finally break down and clean it out.

I'm trying to not dwell on it today. Went to store with my younger son and bought a pumpkin and we are carving it now. Well - he is. We worked on craping out the inside and I helped him get the patter taped and now he is tracing the pattern onto the pumpkin. It helps doing things but I still miss my SR and the phone call / letters can't start soon enough for me.

PNM Kathy is right. It is hard, but we do survive it. It is harder on us than our kids as they are very busy. It does get better.

Still no letter today. :(. I had my son for 19 years and I'm having a very hard time with the not being able to talk to or him him or at least text him. I've also had the same feelings of it being like a death. I sob sometimes when I think about him. When I'm not sobbing I'm crying. I really need to get a letter soon. I miss him alot. I know I'll probably feel alot better once I hear from him and can hear from him that he is doing ok.
