People light a blue candle in honor of their absent family member.  It is supposed to be lit on special occasions and put at their place at the table.

Hi all!! Hope you are having a great weekend. Just getting my son ready to go to MEPS tomorrow for BC. Question - what it the blue candle thing?

beckmcs - I am in cypress, too.  My son is stationed on Whidbey Island in Washington.  He is DIRSUP - goes all over the place wherever they need whenever they call for short assignments.  Can't tell you what he does - not allowed and he hasn't told me a thing, so I couldn't if I wanted to!  LOL!  Hang in there - this time in BC both flies and drags.....

McKinney is a great place just to go have lunch and look around at all the shops! I haven't been in a long time, but I used to like it.  I find myself going to Canton for first Mondays (although I usually go on Friday since I retired) I have had the 3 grandsons this week-end, but their parents came and got them while ago.  Now I'm putting the house back in order!  :)  My husband left to go visit his mom in Electra for tonight.  She's 97 and still lives in their family home!  His sister lives with her, though. I have the job of being at church tomorrow at 7:30 am to help fill cups with grape juice and set up for Communion.  I am not used to getting up early! We are looking forward to a slight temperature change, but no rain.

This is a pretty quiet Labor Day for us.
