Happy Thursday Texas Ladies....

Looks like our storm is moving further south....we may only get some of the outer rain bans....better than nothing at all.

bn4givn - Bravo Zulu to your sailor!! I'm sure you are one proud Momma :-)

I will have to see if I can make the Dallas meet n greet on 8/20.

Got a text from my son today, he earned an Expert marksman ribbon today! He shot 236 out of 240! He was so proud of himself.

We won't leave for the storm - we left for Rita and it took 13 hours to get to Austin from Houston (normally 2.5 hrs).  We are 70 miles inland and had no flooding with Ivan - just not going anywhere.

sounds fun!!  I just might - all depends on what is going on with school at that time.  Hopefully, it will already be started and I'll be settled in!

Andrew was 1993 I think. Before that, I always thought people were crazy for staying, but now I understand completely why they don't leave.

I can relate to that Lisa.  We left at the last minute when Rita was coming in and the traffic was horrible people on the side of the road sleeping or ran out of gas. We stayed away one night and came back home to deal with the aftermath.   We stayed when Ike hit and was able to get right to work on cleanup.  I doubt if we would leave again.

We've gotten so much rain lately, I have mushrooms growing in my front yard!!  Lisa - I think I remember that one - was it about 1989?  I was in college (the second time) and my sister took my two boys and left early because the college didn't cancel classes.  I missed my sailor's first birthday because he was with her.

Brenda Sue, I can remember leaving (running) from hurricane Andrew when we lived in Beaumont. Only had 2 children then, and both were little. I was in such a hurry (aka panic) that I locked myself out of the house. It took us at least 6 hrs to make it to Huntsville (usually a 3hr drive), only to find out that Andrew had turned away from us. Needless to say, we were all tired and a bit frustrated when we got back home, and I didn't care that I had to break the kitchen window to get back in.
