My son went to BESS then A school-- He had foot surgery and got to come home for 10 days great to see him he is an adult now good to see him go back. He has rehab on his foot probably for 3 months then has to repeat some of A school. He is somewhat bummed because the guys that started with him will be three months ahead and gone but.... I haven't been on the site in a while but I've read it every day-- just the ole life issues. Have missed you all

It's so interesting to hear what happens after BC!! There are so many possibilities for a corpsman, aren't there!

My SR has final PFA today, with test 3 tomorrow and Battlestations tomorrow night. I'm on pins and needles...

A question for you veteran HM moms- where from (airport) andwhen did they leave for A schol after PIR? You may be different cuz you were in GL though. I'm just hoping for a little heads up

Hey Jules- my son left for boot camp on his 21st birthday! It was hard but now that it is behind him (and us!) he is so happy! He's in A school in San Antonio  so it is driving distance for us and we got to see him last weekend. He will head to Hawaii after A school is over!

Hi Jules!  Welcome to our group.  I live close to Beaumont and we do try to get together for packing parties, pillowcase making parties and then a shopping trip in Old Town Spring in December.  We would love to have you join us on any of these.  What is your son's rate?

I was an active duty corpsman and worked in security and admin. When I first got out of school I worked on the Wards in Portsmouth and then Labor & Delivery when I first got to Okinawa. Once I started making Rank I didn't get alot of patient care. When I left active duty and went into the reserves I went back to school and got my RN. Some states let a corpsman challenge the nursing boards but not Texas. A Master-at-Arms is an MA. They are the Police Dept.

Brenda- you know, I still don't know those terms completely! I believe HM is a hospital corpsman, right? One who just works in the naval hospitals??? or is that not true? I'm not sure where to even find that info. And I have no idea what MA is!

She really wants to work in physical therapy because she had an ACL replacement in hs that made her have to quit playing soccer. She had a very hard time with that, and has wanted to be in physical therapy in some capacity since. She wants to work with the patients, not just do the paperwork. wink However, she knows that PT isn't super common, so I don't know

So glad  you teach2~~~~

teach2 - is she going to be a MA or a HM?  I teach2!!
