Hi Julie, my name is Maria I sure hope he adjust quickly. You are right I do think part of it is burnout. He is in San Antonio - HM school and says that they have test 2-3 test a week. Each test is on 6-8 chapters. I hope your son got to stay in San Diego with his new assignment. San Diego is go pretty. We are somewhat hoping our son ends up there as we have family in that area.

Julie, you are right this website has helped me through some very emotional times. it also has helped with providing some valuable information. Julie, how long did it take your son to adjust or did he like the service from the beginning. My son was all excited and gone ho at the beginning, I just tell him that he is going through an adjustment period. Laura, during book camp you don't get so little communication from your SR, make sure you join your PIR group. You can somewhat piece meal what is happening with your SR and his division from what each mom shares.

Ps - graduation is grand. If there is any way you can make it, go. So many emotions and the sense of pride that you will see in your new SR is unbelievable.

Hi Laura, my son left Feb 15th and his PIR was 04/15. Hang in there it is really hard at the beginning on them and on you. But it got does go by fast. As Jule said graduation is the best and to see how much they change is unbelievable. My son is now in A school and he has good days and days that he is not to happy. As he said boot camp in a way was better. This week is not so good.

Good Friday Morning all!  we actually took the train (Amtrak)  from Longview to Chicago for my son's PIR.  it was long, but nice, no stress about gas prices, getting lost, traffic jams, etc...!  prices were a pretty good also,  $456 for two round trip (that included the through connection by bus from Houston to Longview).  PIR was FANTASTIC!!!  be sure to order the DVD from the Photo lab!

Haha PIR was a great experiance! I am glad I got to see my fiancee! It was AMAZING! Somehow I managed to keep it together and not cry! But I think it had to do with not being able to see him! The row he was on and where he was standing was not visible where we were sitting! Major bummer!

I loved PIR but it was kind of like playing Where's Waldo!! They all looked alike!

Since our son's PIR was in the mid winter months for IL we flew. Would have LOVE to drove but didn't want to chance any bad weather delays; that could have still happened with airlines but just kept our fingers crossed! PIR is still one of the most breath taking memories I have experienced thus far as a Navy MOM! I still get goose bumps when I think of the moment the big bay doors opened and the DIV started to march in....proud Momma moment!!
