The library will be open but Diane will be off the next two days so she dropped them off at the store I work at right behind the library.  If you don't need them before Friday I can bring them with me.  Both of the Donnas are coming?

Welcome Anna!  Would you like to join some other Navy Moms for dinner in Baytown this Friday?

I'm still up for the meeting!  I think it might only be the two Donna's (spouses?), Matt's Mom (you riding with me), me and my sister.

Matt's Mom - sorry I have not gotten back with you.  Is the library open tomorrow until about 4?  I'd like to come by then.

My son's PIR was 7/31/09.  Wow!  I can't believe it has been that long already.  Our hotel was in Gurnee a couple of blocks from Six Flags.  It wasn't too far from the base and within walking distance was a Joe's Crab Shack, IHOP and Olive Garden.  The mall that they all want to go to during Liberty is just across the highway from the hotel.  We went into Chicago the first day and the trip in wasn't bad but trying to get back was horrible.  My son was so stressed out afraid he wasn't going to get back in time.  I wish we would have taken the train which is right next to the base instead of driving.

Congratulations to both of your son's!

Hi Donna and Donna!  Are we still meeting for supper Friday?

My son's PIR is 4/8/11 ship 04 div 808.  We are from allen, tx.  So far I have received 4 letters and 1 phone call and that was a couple of weeks ago.  I love this website and I am thankful to all who share stories and information here.  Thanks, K

Thanks quiltblue and redsmom - funny - Our youngest is a Marine and at the graduation last November I was warned to bring tissue - very moving, and I learned a lot, too!

oh - and the Navy Lodge does look good - likely, we will stay there. :-)

Blessings!

My son's PIR was 1/14/11 and we also stayed at the Navy Lodge. The location and accomodations made our PIR trip a pleasant one for sure. My son was ready to get out and site see some since he was a Saturday departure to Pensacola. We drove to Chicago, ate deep dish pizza (Giordano's), viewed the Skydeck of Willis Tower, etc.....he loved the availability to walk around where he wanted when he wanted :-)

Don't forget your small box of tissue for PIR; it's Amazing!

Welcome Anna V!  My son PIR's on 4/1/11 and we are staying at the Navy Lodge based upon high recommendations. Close enough that we can walk back after the ceremony and let our Sailor rest if he wants, or take a HOT LONG SHOWER, I have heard from many Moms that that made their day even better! Wow, I can't imagine have three sons all in the military, God Bless You and your husband and of course your sons!

Hi - we are in the Houston area - SW suburb of Sugar Land. Our son graduates (PIR) April 8th. We are looking at staying at the Navy Lodge - anyone been-there-done-that? BTW - our oldest son will go to Navy RTC in June, as well so we will have 2 Navy Sons and one Marine!
