Welcome Jenny!  I think that Kathleen-Jonis' Ma is in the Corpus Rockport area.  I am in Southeast Texas.  What is your son's rate?

I heard about the ruling. My first thought was those POS people our kids fight for their first ammendment rights send them to afganastan protest their ass--over there. Irronically those pond-sucking scum do have rights. I do not believe that ANY common sense goes into anyones brains protesters or rulings. If my son dies and those scumbags show up I would hit them in civil court for mental anguish. If you kill them they get what they want publicity if you sue their butts no one cares about the money-- not very Christian but I hope theyhavevery painful deaths they certainly will have a painful eternity( I believe)

When are we going to learn the difference between rights vs reasonableness and good sense? Why would anyone think it is alright to treat a mourning family in such a manner, no matter what their views. Some things just ought to be good old common or should I say un-common sense.

That is one GREAT reason to like Rick Perry!!!

I cannot image what I would do if I saw them at anyone's funeral.

Someone said that their truck may have a steering problem.

I wouldn't go that far - but if it was my son, I'm not sure of my reactions!

Me either.  I can't imagine how much more difficult they are making it on the families by showing up at the funerals.

Hi, I heard about that today. Could not beloved the ruling.
Comment by Matt's Mom/Cathy on March 3, 2011 at 12:28am

Ladies did y'all hear about this decision that was made today?

The U.S. Supreme Court voted eight to one in favor of the Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas and its First Amendment right to protest at military funerals.

Texas Governor Rick Perry signed a law in 2007 that requires protesters at military funerals to remain at least 1,000 feet away instead of 500 feet from the service.

They must leave one hour prior to the funeral and can't return until one hour after the service ends.

I didn't realize that they had shown up in a nearby town to protest at the funeral of a Staff Sgt. that was killed in Iraq in 2006.
