I have a question. I saw on here where my son should pack for "a" school before he leaves for bc so he'll have everything he wants. What kind of boxes (size) should we use? Is it just one box or can it be two? Just wondering..

Thank all of you...

I hope he sleeps all the way there. I have a feeling he will need it..All of this is so much to learn about. I never thought I'd be a Navy Mom..But, I am VERY proud of him and what he is doing..But being my only child ,it's really hard to let go ..My mom (73 yrs old) starting talking about Austin leaving and started to cry. And of course I teared up. So, we changed the subject fast. It's like walking on egg shells..

Kelly - your son will have lots of buddies to travel with to BC from Houston - my so left from Dallas because of where he enlisted after college and he traveled with 7 recruits.  They chatted at the airport but they weren't sitting together on the plane.  It didn't matter - he slept the entire flight.

Brenda Sue... That HOJO should be fine... the area is industrial.... obviously the bases, but also heading toward Sea World... it won't be the lovely part of San Antonio but it should be fine. I will join... thanks for the heads up.

Wow where did you get it from?  The lady that had placed the ad?  I was up until

1am cuttting material and I have everything loaded for tomorrow.

Matt's Mom, I bought 26 yards of fabric last night!  I have about 50 yards to work with tomorrow.

Hope we have a good turnout!

Dec6, glad you were able to go!  I LOVE PIR's.  I even went (from southeast Texas) to one that was not my own kid.  I just wanted to see another one!  I'll go again if I have the chance!

Mail, I've ALWAYS sent packages in the military flat rate boxes through USPS - he has always gotten them.  One went all around the world before it got to him - but it did.

Brenda SUE Thanks for encouraging me to attend PIR even though I was only going to get to spend a few short hours with my Son.  DESPITE the freezing temps we had a GREAT TIME.  When we landed it was like 6 degrees...then it warmed up to 16.....LOL.  I am forever greatful I went.

He is now in Groton, CT.  I have one question though.  My son gave me two addresses.  One for mail, and one for packages.  I have heard that pkgs mailed via US Mail sent to the PKG address are returned to sender.  Is the Package address only for UPS, FED EX, and DHL and reg mail for US Mail??

P3Pilot, here is a question:

Brenda Sue we have decided to stay at Howard Johnsons Inn and Suites on Hwy. 90 west. Is that an ok place to stay? I liked it because it had a full kitchen and was very reasonable (52) a nite.

What do you think?
