Sue, MOST of the time they will wait in Florida. They clear them out of Great Lakes ASAP to make room for the next group of recruits.

My son PIR'd on a Friday before a holiday - so I changed plans and got to spend Monday with him also - and he left Great Lakes the following Wednesday. We did not know the location of his A school changed until that Wednesday. He called me from the airport. He was headed home to San Antonio, TEXAS - but it got changed to Virginia. One thing with the Navy - things change!!

Yes, Joni, yes I do live close to Cecilia. I'll even bring her a dinner after her surgery if she lets us know when it is!

Melanie - sounds GREAT - why don't YOU set up the event? If you don't know how - let me know and I'll either do it - or help you! You just need to find the location. I am not that familiar with the area. We ate at a local pizza place in Waco that was just fabulous. It does not have to be fancy - just room to roam and visit.

Melanie - I live near Beaumont - maybe we could get together and ride up to Denton together!!!

Does anyone want to meet in the Galveston/Kema area like we did last year?
I don't think the same restaurant is still there - thanks to Hurricane Ike - but there are others.

I just ate at Guido's on the seawall in Galveston - it was awesome - about $20 a person. Kinda pricy - but REAL nice!!! And we could walk the beach!

What is we have absolutely NO carpentry skills - beyond - I can do the math!!! Well, my ex- built cabinets - so I do know a little. I have helped lay Formica many a time.

Hi Cecelia. Japan. The Blue Ridge. I have an appt the 16th where I won't be "under the gas" at the dentist or put to sleep with a procedure at the hospital, so we could have lunch that day if you want! So far, I havn't been able to drive afterwards, LOL!
