Hello Ladies- Does anyone know how long it takes for a letter to get from BC to the Austin area. I got a letter yesterday (6/10) that was dated 6/02. I am not able to read the post mark. So does it really take 6 days for a letter to come from BC. Do our recruits hand them in to somewhere and then they are mailed in mass numbers. Thanks for letting me ramble!

Alicia and Janet, ya'll live in that beautiful gorgeous hill country, eh?

Just got the call. We have orders.

Do any of you knit? The website KnittingDaily.com just released a collection of "7 Free Baby Knitting Patterns." One of them is a baby blanket with a field of open-work stars, each about 4-5 inches in diameter. Perfect for any Navy baby! You have to be a subscriber to their newsletter, but it's free and I recommend it for knitters. (More) hugs, k.

Tina I'm so glad you and Kate were there. Donna knows my heart was there! And RUTH! My gosh, I told my son about your detailed tips and everyone elses I received. I was overwhelmed. Over 65 responses with brilliant ideas and places to visit for cheap!. He's going to the Navy Recreation to see what discounts he can get. Another tip I got was to go to the USO and see what they might have.
Hi Denise!! Lia is a beautiful name. Is that your DIL? Are you still in LaBelle?

Tina, We will be at Palm Shadows off and on throughout the fall and winter. My husband is retired from the DOD, now a contractor for them and working on the armor that protects our kids. It saved our sailor when he was in Afghanistan! Our son was on the TRRoosevelt before boots on the ground. Now he's at Great Lakes as an instructor. Last fall one of the first persons I met in Donna was a Navy mom! We're everywhere! Anyway, my husband will have to fly back and forth for work, but I'll be there most of the time.

Hug your sailors and tell them thank you for me!

Can a "part-time" Texan join you? I grew up in Iowa, live just across the Mississippi R. in Illinois, but will start spending time in Texas. I refuse to be a snowbird! We have a place in Donna, near McAllen. My brother has been in Houston for many years as a teacher. (I'm a member of the PGR, too.)

Kate and Brenda Sue, Jorge and I really missed you Memorial Day. I was pretty sick with a bad sinus infection, and we had to leave in the 6th inning so we could get him back for rehearsals. Donna, thinking of you and your family! Have a great wonderful time!

I also have to work Monday night - first class day - ugh, I can't miss it!
So sorry that I can't be there for Donna and T!!
My thoughts have been with them both for the past several months!
Welcome HOME, T!!!

I wonder what the story is behind the sign. Like - who did it and does he/she "need" some mail from TEXAS!!! I would be glad to send them some things!
