We are wanting to send AMERICA to a group of Seabees in Afghanistan!! (Yep, some Sailors in the sandbox are getting some Navy for Mom's care)!! PLEASE participate and let's REALLY make TEXAS proud and represented!! I am sending bunches of TEXAS post cards, some red, white and blue paper goods and decorations along with some TEXAS seasonings and other things (decks of cards, magazines, books, socks, etc).

Thanks for posting Sue S!! That picture was taken at New York Fleet Week bar-b-que - we fed close to 100 Sailors and Marines! If you go to Sue S's page, she has video clips of the Marines and Sailors walking in with Susanne from New York. She organized the entire bar-b-que (and did a fantastic job).
It was AMAZING - the entire park stood and cheered when the Marines got off the bus - Then again when the Sailors arrived!

Hi, ya'll! I know I'm not in Texas now, oh but PLEASE let me stay! I know so many of you from meeting in other groups.

I haven't visited here in quite a while and came here today to read a post. I found all those Texas songs in the playlist... and now I'm ready to pack a suitcase, leave a note on the kitchen counter, get in the car (WITH my dog), and drive home!!

Indiana is a lovely state, and the people have been warm and friendly... but it's just not Texas. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'm a native Ft. Worthian, but have lived in Houston, Killeen, Dallas, and 28 years in Arlington, before following DH to Indiana last summer.

My Sailor is a Nuke on the sub ALABAMA in Bangor. He's a PO2, MM, and has served 3 of his six years. He's about to reenlist for another three to get the signing bonus, and to work on getting his degree now that he's got his Dolphins.

Before I take a spot here on the porch swing, would someone kindly tell me where to find the sweet tea and pecan pie? Extra Big hugs to all you wonderful Texas ladies! k.

Joni, I know the USS Rodney Davis is a frigate. You might check that group out and ask someone in there how to get information. They don't have an ombudsman???

Tex - O & P - the Ranger's game you asked about?? Well, in a "nutshell" - N4M's is "Painting the Town Blue" in Dallas this month. A few months ago they did the same thing in Boston and New York (I think). They have put up some FANTASTIC bill boards, painted the sides of building, put banners in malls, etc. (Go back a few pages and there are some pictures). Now they are having a few moms (and dads) go to the Ranger's game and do special things - like folding a huge flag, etc. Look in the discussions above and Elle (the admin of this site) left a message about how to contact her for tickets!!
I wish I was going - but I am going to NEW YORK CITY for Fleet Week!! I am getting excited.
The lady I ride to school with DONATED 100 Texas shaped coasters cut out of leather for me to pass out to the Sailors we are feeding at the bar-b-que up there! Isn't that AWESOME!!

Well my daughter shipped out yesterday. I got a call last night when she arrived at GL and now it's that long 8 weeks in front of me, but I know that this is the best thing she could ever do for herself. I can't wait to get her address so i can start send her letters. Glad I have y'all here to talk to.

Hi oma and Pappa! I am near Zavalla. Military Mom is from Newton also, isn't she?
Hi margaret from Sugarland! Thats where my niece and nephew grew up.
Before Patrick was born, I worked at the Arlington Olive Garden when it was still located next door to Atchaufalias. (sp) It was 87-89. Pete Incaviglia came and signed autographs at our grand opening. Patrick was born Jan 2 of 89, then we moved to Chattanooga in 90 and our friend got us a signed baseball by Nolan Ryan for our son Patrick when we lived in TN. I am excited to go to the game. Yes, Brenda we do need another SE TX get together. Every time I come to Beaumont for the day I am either under anesthesia or gas at the dentist!

Hey, TexanOmaandPappa - I live in Nederland (near Beaumont) - not too far from Newton - just not sure exactly how far.
We need to have another southeast Texas get together this summer. Maybe in Beaumont!
