Joni, I don't choose who Molly's Adopt a Sailor group chooses.
They assign it to someone different each month.
It would be neat if all four of the Early Act Club's adopted the same group, though!

Joni, No, they sure don't have to go through our website. Going to anysailor.com is a great idea. That way another group gets adopted. It tells you how many people request addresses for each group, how many are in each group, where they are located, and some things they are asking for. She could find one that REALLY meets the goals of her class and even maybe work something into their curriculum!!!

Wow - I am not sure what lit the fire under your feet - but you are burning bright!!
This is exciting!! When I think about those guys in the sand - doing without something that we could send them to make their lives ANY easier - I just want to get it to them!!!
See you Saturday!!!

Whoo Hoo Joni!!! Sounds AWESOME what you have found out!!!
Have you read in the Adopt a Sailor group what all they are asking for in the different places? Some of the things are strange - like insect repellant for the sand fleas!! I would NEVER have thought of that!! They asked for dog/cat collars - but they seem to irritate the skin. Another thing I heard was the silly string - they could use it to see if there were trip wires in the paths!!
SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joni, that sounds like an awesome idea!!! I don't have a barrell - but I guess you could ask HEB and they might even provide the barrell. I know that lots of stores collect for the food banks - they might for the military!!
We have HEB's down here also!!

Midway is much easier!! It is about 20 miles farther away from Great Lakes than O'Hare - but it is about as different as Hobby and Intercontinental airports in Houston.
Let me know if you need any more help!! I liked flying Southwest!

Hi all you Waco bound moms (dads, siblings, and significant others)!!!

I talked with Kathleen today and we discussed wanting this Meet and Greet to be more meaningful that just a bunch of chatter. I have been part of Molly's Adopt a Sailor group on this website, and I would like to do what some other states meet and greets have done.

Kathleen and I talked about asking EVERYONE to bring some items to send to our deployed Sailors. T's mom has mentioned that they are thrilled to get some simple things like magazines in Iraq and Afghanistan. Whether we send those boxes to T's division or Molly's March Adopt a Sailor group - it doesn't matter - we just want to send them some TEXAS size "loving". The Florida group just sent six boxes out - so TEXAS has to at least match that - if not double it!!

I am going to get the link to Molly's Adopt a Sailor page. Please, if you are not a member - join!!! I am going to find the list of things that they ask for - please, bring SOMETHING. If you cannot get to a store, cash to mail the boxes are appreciated. It would be neat if EVERYONE stopped by their local post office and asked for a FLAT RATE or MILITARY box and bring it and let's fill those boxes. Donations are appreciated to pay for shipping also. It is about $9 to mail each box.

Anxious to see some of you again - and to meet others next week.
Let's make this another great "Navy for Mom" memory!!!
