Yes, Yolanda, this is his first deployment. He has been out in the past, but on short trips.

I hope you hear from you sailor soon.

Hello fellow "Moms of Faith". My sailor is now on deployment. He is on a fast attack submarine for a 6 month deployment. I will be able to send him emails, which he may receive at some point during this deployment, but there is no guarantee when he will receive them. Navy business comes first, so family emails have to wait until there is a place for them in the communication pipeline. With 150 +/- on the sub, that is a lot of emails.

Please continue to pray for the USS Olympia and the loved ones left behind while we patiently(?) wait for communication from them when they do reach a port. (It could be as long as 3 months, maybe more).

ProudMom........My son's division sent a recruit home 3 days before graduation. He was caught fraternizing with a female recruit for the 3rd time (according to what I was told!). I can't imagine spending 7-1/2 weeks in boot camp and then throwing it all away. I can only guess that he really did not want to be a Sailor!

ProudMom, my son's division started with over 80 recruits and ended up graduating around 55. The problems ones will be dealt with. The RDC's have a knack in knowing who they are! LOL May God be with them, and they'll be in my prayers, as will all the recruits. Going through those 8 weeks of bootcamp was my son's worst nightmare!

ProudMom, those 10 will either shape up or be shipped out. Don't know which would be better for them, but it will happen.

I will pray for them as well as all sailors and military members of this great country.

Hello everyone! Just found this group!!! So excited! My son starts A school tomorrow at Goose Creek. He PIR'd 05/27/10. We also went to the Catholic service that last weekend and sat up in the balcony. Really nice Mass! Now he's attending the Mass at Goose Creek and they just asked him to help count the collections after Mass. Any other Catholic moms with kids at Goose Creek???

Hello, I just joined this group and I am so thankful that I found it. My son enlisted in May and is a depper until October. We are catholic and as soon as I opened this site and saw the metal of St. Michael I knew I was in the right place. St Michael is my son's patron saint and his middle name. To say I got chills is an understatement. I will be honored to pray for our wonderful children who are serving our country. I just told my son about the prayer huddles and he thought that was great. Bless you all. Kathy

When they are first deployed is a very hard time for Moms/Grandmas~~ lots of tears. This is the place to come for support. People don`t understand what it feels like unless they have a loved one of their own deployed. I know I never understood until my grandson was deployed to Iraq. Prayers for our servicemen and women.

Please keep the sailors of the USS Olympia in your prayers for Protection and Safe Travels as they are being deployed sometime soon. It is my son's first deployment and Mom is already missing the conversations we have. I know God will be there with them wherever they go. I am hoping a few of His Angels will be following me also, so I don't cry on everyone I see!!!

May all our military members and their families receive the Blessings and Love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
