I was checking out an email I got about Tiger Woods at the inauguration on www.snopes.com this morning and came across the information about the movie Corpus Christi that was mentioned earlier here. The movie is an urban legend--it doesn't exist at least as it was rumored to be. Happily, the story about Tiger is true--and it's a good one. Go to snopes and enter Corpus Christi or Tiger Woods in the search to read about them.

I was lucky and got a 45 minute call from Matt yesterday afternoon. Doesn't it just warm your heart to hear their voice?? :)

Norma: If you've got the time, you can find a lot of funny Navy Boot Camp jokes on the internet. Right before the recruits have "lights out" they receive their mail. A lot of them share jokes with the rest. It's nice to think we can lighten their day a little and put them to sleep with a smile on their face..... :)

Welcome Norma:
Never did so much crying in my life as I did when my son left for boot camp. Make it a point to write her a long letter everyday. That will be the thing that connects her with you and her home. I would sit at the computer and just ramble on about anything and everything. And that's what Matt wanted. Just a little "home" in a very different place. You will learn to live from Wednesday to Wednesday, that's when the mailman will deliver your weekly letter. And after about 3 or 4 weeks she'll start calling at least once a week.
As Moms, we miss our kids a lot more than they miss us. And I say that only because they are too busy to think about home.
You will get through this. You can find websites that will tell you what your daughter will be doing every week. And when you write, she'll know you've been reading up on boot camp!
There are many Moms on this site who have gone before you and we're here to offer all the love and support you need. Just ask :)
