My daughter got new orders and became attached to the USNS Comfort. I went looking for a group and found none so I decided to start one. I look forward to hearing from others that have had loved ones in the past or are now attached to this ship.

Hello all! Our daughter FaceTimed us today. Her BF drove down from Jax to spend the weekend with her. She told me they are leaving tomorrow. She hates the traffic there. I laughed and reminded here I grew up there and learned to drive there...haha! Here's hoping for smooth sailing and safe adventures for them!

Hi,  I heard from my sailor today and he said they are in FL.  Do you know if they ever get to leave the ship and see the sights, while on deployment?

Hi all,
I have not talked to my son, but the ship is in Miami today, Saturday. I only know because my niece lives there and she is picking up my son, for a visit. Not sure how long they'll be there. 1st port call. I hope they all have fun. Miami is my hometown, but I live in VA.
Hope everyone is good.

Ladies, what is the difference between comments and discussions. I'm not sure if I'm responding to anyone. And then there's email. Confusing. I guess check both.
We made it 2 days so far! Haha

Hi, I am glad to have found some other moms who have sailors on the Comfort. :)

Hi, I'm new to the group.  My son went on his first ship duty 4-1-15 as a corpsman.  He too is a little apprehensive.

Thank you Holly for sharing you got to see them pull way.  I hope to be able to see them come in Sept 29.

He had to get ready at the last minute, because he already had leave scheduled.  So glad we got to see him before he left.

Hi, I'm new to the Comfort scene. What an amazing ship and mission. My son left this morning, 1 Apr 2015. Great to watch her being pulled out to sea so smoothly by the Moran tugs. This is my sons first deployment. He is a bit apprehensive; young, only 2 years in the Navy. Sounds very cool to me. We are a Coast Guard family ( well, of course, except our son). Navy is new to me and our boats are much smaller. Haha
Look forward to chatting, and getting word from anyone on schedule, news, etc.
Praying for a wonderful experience for all on board, and those less fortunate, awaiting our sailors.

Thank you for starting this group, Kalena!   Here's a tribute to the difference our Navy makes in the world (and USNS Comfort is there!)  -
