Hey Nicks Mom - did you hear what our son's had to eat yesterday? Crabs legs and steaks, wow!

Welcome to the group Miss Mary and Nicks mom. We have a bunch of wonderful Moms on here with tons of info. If you have questions just fire away....one of us should have the answers for you. It is a long tough road, but these young men and women are tough and can handle it! It's tougher for us Moms being on the outside, but that's what is so great about this group...everyone has been or is going to go through the same thing. Tons of support here. Again...welcome to the group !

Hi Chelly - weren't you in Div 842? My son, along with another Div 842 rescue swimmer are in the same room in Pensacola. My son didn't take his cell phone but the other one did so this is how my son called me. There is a third rescue swimmer in there with them that arrived at the same time but I didn't recognize the last name. We're "friends" on here so if okay with you, send me a PM with your son's last name and I'll see if I recognize it.

I agree about the confusion with the two groups. It's like having dual personalities. I never know which one to go to. I try to follow the other one and then I see there are postings in this one and I think "yikes what have I missed?" And then when I post, I always wonder if I should post in both? Heard from my son last night - the newest group have arrived in Pensacola - woo hoo!

Thanks Kari and Chris for the info. So, if I understand you correctly, the boys will still earn their "gold wings", but they will just have to complete more months of their training first??
Comment by Richell on September 9, 2009 at 12:56pm
Could any of you please explain what you are talking about for changing the "wings policy" what is the old or current way verses the new way it is handled??
Comment by Christi on September 9, 2009 at 12:26pm
Chris A. and everyone, I wanted to let you know that I talked to my son Shawn last night and it sounds as though the powers that be are trying to get his class to graduate by the end of this month. Which means they will earn their wings before the new cut-off, hopefully. I am soooo excited. I know its a little too early to get excited but it means there is a possibility that I will get to pin his wings on him. He said there is still alot to be done before the end of the month and they really have alot of studying to do. There is a written open book test, a closed book test, oral test and of course their final flights. He said it's possible he may graduate with Greg. Which means Chris we will get to meet each other. Yay! I won't know until the last minute of course....keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi ladies, my son just graduated PIR last Thursday and is flying to Pensacola tomorrow to begin his Aviation Rescue Swimming training. Looking for help, advice, and info on this new part of the journey. Ran across this group and it looked like a good place to belong. Enjoyed reading many of the coments and viewing the photos. Hope to chat with you all soon. Any advice for us "newbies"?

Welcome to the group Linda. My son left PCola in April and has been in SD since then. He is due to graduate FRAC mid October. We are a proud bunch of Mom's here on SAR. Again....welcome!

Chris,
What has Greg said are the new requirements to get your wings if after Oct. 1? Just wondering. I hope it works out for them. Are they making it so all aircrew doesn't get wings or will it just take longer and require more?
