I know Jimmy is no longer on the Alex but, after all the years with this group, I felt I could boast about my son.  He finally made Chief!  Could not be prouder of his accomplishment.  Last year he got Sail of the Year for the Alex and I thought for sure he would make Chief...but no go till now.

Congrats to Proudmom for her son's promotion and future wedding.  Also to any others that I missed by not checking in.

This group got me thru several deployments on the Alex. Jimmy's first sub assignment (Parche) did not have such a group to help each other.

Thanks again for listening to me....I am so proud.

Congrats proudmom!  We move further away from Groton by 7 hours!  When the boat goes into dry dock we will only be 5 or 6 hours away....Skype is my favorite word now!

Congrats to you son Proudmom on his promotion!  So glad he was able to come home for a surprise visit.  I am actually spending a few weeks with our son, his wife and our grand daughter as my hubby is on his 2 wk annual training and we are in the midst of moving.  It has been great.  Unfortunately we are moving much further away than we are now and I am cherishing this time with them.

Holly- i came to the same realization over Memorial Day weekend. My husband and I were cooking out here in PA and Max and his wife were cooking out in CT. We kept texting back and forth and sending pics of our grill/food. I missed him so much that it physically hurt. I wished so badly that we were all together again, but my husband said i need to let go. I cried off and on for the rest of the day...knowing that its true. He then asked us to come and visit them next weekend and i was thrilled. Its a long trip for us and were still trying to clear our schedules, but how can we say NO!....:).Im happy that you got to visit with your son/DIL, And i dont know about you, but im so grateful that they have each other at least. And yes,,,,they will always be our little boys. I love when he calls from the grocery store, asking which spices he should get to make this or that..:) makes me smile, but it also makes me wish i was there to help him...LOL!!!!. Thats all part of it i guess. Hope you all have a good day. Bless our boys!

i agree Holly. sometimes a phone call is all i need. My sailor sent me a Mothers Day card but i didnt receive it until tuesday..lol..and my older son (off at college) posted the SWEETEST post on his FB page about me. I was thrilled because all his friends saw it!!. I enjoy them so much as they are adults now....but i really miss them being little sometimes. I know they miss each other. My oldest is going to Groton to visit his brother over the 4th..i hope our guys are able to get some time off and celebrate the holiday a little...:) they deserve it.

I heard from my son yesterday and he said he wants to come home already, he said he was craving Taco Bell..lol...so i told my DIL to have it waiting for him when they pull back in..:)
