I check the Anzio family site often too, as well as the other Navy.mil sites and flicker.  I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

There's another picture of Anzio that was put up on navy.mil... It seems like they're putting a good number of pictures up there from the deployment! Definitely something to watch out for :) I know I love seeing pictures of the ship and any of the sailors on board even if they're not mine!

Thanks for sharing. I've had some quick messages from my son. They've had some rough seas and they are busy. Love seeing pictures of "our" ship anytime.

Thought everyone might be interested in the pictures that the ship released from the start of deployment :) My husband sent these to me and told me to go ahead and share them so here you go! :)

Thanks for the deplyment pictures for those of us who could not be on the pier to see the USS Anzio begin their deployment.  Seeing our Sailors Man the Rails is something to behold first hand.  If you can make it to the pier when they return at the end of their mission, you should do so.

My Sailor Son is a 5.5 year veteran and this is his third deployment.  He became a shellback on his first deployment.  I'm trying to remember where I saw the pictures back when it happened.  It was either on Navy News or most likely on the USS Enterprise's news update.

My son's currently in A-school at Great Lakes as an OS. He got his orders yesterday . . . he'll be on the USS Anzio. He's excited, so I am too! We live in CT, so I'm glad that he's on the east coast (at least when not out to sea).
