While on deployment, how often will they realistically be able to contact family? I am finding out from my middle son about when my son is leaving and where he is going to. I am hoping he will contact me at some point while deployed. We're you able to send care package and letters? How often do they receive them, if so. Thank you!

My son has been on this ship for two deployments now. We regularly chat via Facebook. The ship also has a great FB page, you can go on there and they post lots of pictures. You might get a pic of him that way and you will know about where they are and what they are up to.

My son is recently stationed on the USS Bainbridge. I am nervous about his first deployment. We are not currently on speaking terms so I can't even tell him how much I love him. Has anyone else ever had this same situation? Thanks in advance.

ok. I did say something to him on FB chat. Looking forward to meeting him when he returns. :) We're watching the Olympics now. The Russians are performing a Ballet about their history. Interesting and beautiful. :)

I am glad he has responded to you. I did notice you posted under one of his FB postings.  He is not in Norfolk right now. not sure when they return but they are working on something he can not say.

Tracy,

We are friends with him on FB now and I was going to text him today to see if he wanted to come over tomorrow and/or Sunday. We have several sailors who could give him a ride over or we could..that's not a problem.  We'll continue to keep in touch with him. :)

Glad to hear your dad is doing really well!

John and Yvonne  I have been talking to Stephen, he is quite unhappy. He has 56 hours work one day off cycle. That seems to be a too hard schedule. He said if you on a ship life is harder than on base. He has base housing but he probably will never see it. Right now I guess they are on a short assignment elsewhere. I think he needs a drivers license and a car or motorcycle. Maybe John good teach him to drive, he claims he has no interest in driving. I have tried to get him to try to find the happy more positive in his life.

My dad doing really well.
