USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Welcome SusanG and Juliefrog68, glad to see some action on here, been awhile.

My son has been on the ship since March 2011. He is an AS.

That's odd Barbara. My husband was at the game.

He went onboard just after they came back.  I wish they would post more pics from Jacksonville.  He said they had cameras in their faces for days.  But still not alot of pics of our Sailors posted.

Yes, he told me that when he came home in between A school and going to VA. I am not sure what my son's Division. I knew that there were things that I needed to ask him but when he got there it was in the middle of Sandy.

Hi and Thank you Sandra AM Mom -  This might sound weird but I am not sure what his rate is.  I know he went in to bootcamp as a pac seaman, not what he was given and signed up for but they took his rate away from him half-way through  DEP.

Hi all, my son has been on the Bataan for about 2 weeks now. He arrived right after Sandy blew through. So far he likes the ship and all his mate's.

Our family knows absoultely nothing about the Navy so thank God for this page. We are an Air Force family that goes back to my son's great grand-father being an Original Tuskegee Airman. We welcome the Navy with open arms since my son chose to be apart of the Navy. LOL I know nothing about rank, orders, set-up, travel, just nothing. Like the days when we moved to Germany and I had to learn German because we lived on the economy....just didn't know a thing.
