USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

hmmm i've seen multiple posts here about sailors onboard the bataan not being able to take showers because of water issues. i also saw a post about them returning in april. i would think that would be something that shouldnt be discussed either but yet i didnt see anyone chime in about OPSEC or not discussing equipment readiness or return timeframes on the open forum. let me just delete my account because i don't do the fake thing and i certainly don't do the lying to save face thing either. i asked a question...i didnt come here to be lectured about what should and shouldnt be posted in this forum. i was in the navy for 10 years and my husband has been in for 15 1/2 so i certainly don't need anyone telling me what should and shouldnt be posted on an open forum. anyhoo, i can sense the clique'ish nature of this board already and i don't have time.

Hello Im new to this forum. Does anyone know definitively when the Bataan will be returning home? My husband is on the Bataan and has heard through the grapevine that the Kearsarge is supposed to be on its way to Haiti to relieve them. He said that the ship is in desperate need of repair and needs to go in the yards. I was wondering if anyone else has heard anything.

Thanks,

My son called me this evening! He told me he was in the bed when the 6.1 hit & it pretty much shook them out their bunks! They thought the ship had went aground!
