I kind of know what you mean. I'm sure you're aware that when the BHR was gone for 7 months, they didn't get to stop at many ports. My son was disappointed about that. Didn't get to see as much as he thought he would.
I get the Google Alerts, which I really like. It was very helpful while they were gone and given me lots of info on Rimpac. But I saw a comment last night where a mom looked at the BHR website, at People of Rimpac. I looked for it but couldn't find anything like that.

Laurence, my corpsman, says New Orleans is OK. He says he joined the Navy to see the world and so far he has seen Great Lakes, Camp Pendleton and now, New Orleans.
Do you get much news about RIMPAC?
I have been following it on Facebook. I love looking at all the pictures!

Oh, of course. That is a big job, but probably the best job if you're going to work in the kitchen...it smells so good! Does he like it? Since I did the Tiger Cruise, I've seen what they do and how much they have to prepare. amazing!
How about your other son? is he happy where he is? at least he's a little closer to home.

CS is culinary specialist. They feed all on the ship! He is in the bakery baking rolls and cakes.
The base in New Orleans is a reserve base, but since they have a hospital and he is a corpsman, he some how was assigned there. He wants to be assigned to a marine unit. Why, I have no idea! He currently works in the physical therapy department.

No, my son is in IT. What is CS? I was reading the previous comments, you said hull tech and fire fighter. Is that CS? My second son fuels helicopters and does fire fighting as well as works in the pump room.
I didn't realize they had sailors in New Orleans. Of course, there's a lot I don't know about the Navy. I only know what my sons have experienced. What does your son do there?
I'm in the Houston area.

momoftwosailors, is your son on the BHR a CS? If so, there is a site here for CS,

My other son is a corpsman in New Orleans. He has been in since August 2009. He just finished all his training and has been there for about 5-6 weeks.
Where in Texas are you? I'm in the Dallas area.

Hi Margaret! My other son is on the Makin Island. My son on the BHR also made dinner rolls last year while he was still new on the ship. He loved being in the bakery!
Where is your other son? did they join together like mine did?
By the way, I'm also in Texas.

Welcome, momoftwosailors.
I too have two sons in the navy. Where is your second son?
My son on the BHR and has only been there for a few months. He is the one who bakes the dinner rolls.
