I haven't gotten any info either. I asked, but my son says I'm too old for such a thing. Better luck with your sailor! Cost is a definate issue for me too. Two one way tickets is a lot. I think I would enjoy it (I'm not really too old).
Good news is that mail and gift boxes are arriving much quicker now. Only a month for the last one. I was also able to send some DVD out of ebay and 2 of three got there. The seller is resending the third one. We even got a few Facebook pics of the last liberty!
Anyone else have pics of the sunset safari tour. It looked really cool!
Emails are fewer, but requests are about half of them, so at least I can have some new news then.
Good luck on the tiger cruise info Jon - try emailing your sailor and asking him/her directly.
Who got the info for the tiger cruise
Mary- I don't know whether to laugh or cry! I must send more boxes!
LA mom - Your daughter is so precious. I have no idea on how it is even possible to do what she did!
I read in the newsletter that they recieved about 34 pallets of mail (as opposed to the 3-4 pallets they normally would receive. My link to the newsletter is as follows:
Fans of Bunker Hill, the January newsletter has been released! It has been posted on the Carl Vinson file sharing site. Click the link below to view and share with anyone who is interested in how we are doing! http://www.issuu.com/vinsonmedia/docs/january_newsletter_final
I saw on FB today that my SIL is starting to potty train my grandaughter. It makes me sad that my daughter is missing out on all this.I'm sure Mary, the same as it is with your son and grandson. Are we halfway through yet?? Maybe??
Missing my son too. He just got his Christmas box I mailed in ealry Dec. I think it is much more appreciated now that they have been out longer. I started to tear up when the store lady asked me if I needed help and I explained that I was shopping for chocolates for my Navy son. Surprised me.
I found this link to the newsletter on the Bunker Hill Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.issuu.com%2Fvinson...
I saw my daughter lounging on deck with one of her good friends, looking just like she was at any other picnic with friends. She called last night and sent me flowers for my Birthday today. Made my day and then some!!!
Hey ladies, this one is a question for the wives of bunker hill, im currently looking for housing and i called the bases housing unit and they gave me a website, but do any of you have suggestions on where i should begin my search for living whereabouts?
Anyone trying to get info and where abouts of the Bunker Hill, you really nead to go onto Face Book and "friend" the Carl Vinson...they have all kinds of pics, many of the bunker Hill and they also are always listing where they are at. Like a news announcement went out today where they are at and who is accompanying them and you will than get first hand knowledge where our loved ones are. It's comforting to read and learn what we are doing exactly instead of guessing and instead of waiting for that email or phone call which is few and far between. Although, I do get correspondance at least every third day...which I know is a lot
compared to what many families receive. Good luck and happy reading.
I hope this has helped some..... God Bless
