For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

This is from the USPS 1 800 610 8734 select option #1 then #1 again. Ask for the Military kit ~[boxes] ~or military pack~[envelopes] You receive 6 boxes Tape, packaging materials and labels You should get these in 7-10 days. They will ask if you have someone *deployed* that's it!!! And its all FREE!!!! register once and get a customer ID# for reordering...
its that easy!!

My son left for his first deployment. I would like to send him a Christmas box, but they have so little space for anything. Any suggestions?

Don't fight the tears Sue. No one will see you.She'll be able to e-mail you when she's not busy but phone calls won't be as often.They are surprisingly busy so don't worry if you don't hear from her as much as you would like to. Watch a tear jerker movie tonight and blame it on that. You'll feel better. Cindy

Amen.Beautiful and fitting prayer.I'm glad you're part of our group Chaplain Jim..my daughter speaks highly of you.Many times on the last deployment I was tempted to write to you.I'm hoping this time out will be easier. Sue, my daughter feels the same way about me being on here so I've learned to just not bring it up.Mary, I'm sure this time will be different for you now that you have Navy Baby.We know our kids can take care of themselves but it's their family we worry about. Thanks, all, for your comments on this site. Good to have this community and know our men and women are among good company with strong family support. This will be my sailor's second time out - so happy they all had a chance to get home this past month.
A prayer for our sailors:
Gracious God, we commend to your care and keeping all the men and women of the USS Bunker Hill. Defend them day by day with your heavenly grace; strengthen them in their trails and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding peace wherever they may be.

Welcome LA's Mom! My daughter is also on the BH and just loves it.She is very happy with the crew and is actually looking forward to the next deployment. This will be her second trip out on the ship.I talked to her a few minutes ago and although she loves her job,leaving a 2 yr old at home with Dad is almost unbearable.Her husband was a Marine so I know what you mean about the squabbling.Take care and keep in touch.

It is sad when you have to lock up each and every belonging... it only takes one or two 'bad eggs' to ruin things for everyone... but this goes on whether it is a small or large ship... I have heard some real horror stories!!
The first ship my son was on... he was unpacking and stowing his gear... he had set his hat on his bunk... he turned to put something in his locker and when he looked back his hat was gone... there had been one or two guys go by and he had no idea who they were... so he had to go and buy another hat first thing before he could even go and report back with his squadron... lesson learned!! Anything and everything will disappear if you don't keep your eyes and hands on it!!
