A sad day for the USS Carter Hall. Has anyone heard from their sailor today?

Hi Kimberly68, My son is an Officer and honestly I don't know his rate or even if he has a rate. He lives off the base with his wife who he met there in Virginia Beach. We are from the San Francisco Bay Area. I belong to the Northern California NavyforMoms group. We have had several get togethers and do meet every year for Veteran''s Day parade in Petaluma. I have not been out to Virginia yet. I would like to get out there this year and see the base and the Carter Hall. I like that we can see what's going on with the ship on FB. The Easter Egg Hunt was pretty sweet. My son is the oldest of my four children. I miss him a lot but love following his naval career. Whenever the ship goes out I have a yellow ribbon painted on my building and invite all military folks to write their loved one's name or whatever they want on it.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever been on the Carter Hall?

Hello Navy Moms, I am new to the Carter Hall. I have been on NavyforMoms for a few years. I am in Northern California. My son has been with the Carter Hall for about a year. I am only just now getting up to speed about the ship. I only recently learned about the "Gator Navy". My family are all getting tshirts and sweatshirts with logo.I follow the Carter Hall on FB and find that usually after they have been out the post pictures afterwards. It's always fun when you spot your sailor in one of the photos.

Hey everyone, what a great morning this is.  I went on FB for USS Carter Hall and saw a few pictures of my son in the photo tab, that just made my day!!!  I am so thankful for the people that takes the pictures and post them for us to see.  It makes them being away less harder. Hope everyone has a great day.  Prayers are being sent out for all military service men and women and their families.  God Bless.

Hi, If you register on this site http://www.carter-hall.navy.mil/ under the Family tab, the Ombudsman will send you informative e-mails.  Recently, she sent out an information sheet on care packages.  You can e-mail her to get a copy.  Also, if you are on Facebook, Carter Hall now has a FB page and there was a posting about sending care packages.  Here is the mailing address for the ship:

NAME/RATE/RANK

USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50)
FPO AE 09573-1738 21880
My son is already asking for snacks and they have not left yet - LOL.  Hope this helps and good luck.
