Hello moms of the USS Comstock!

I am happy to report that Heads at Ease pillowcase project is making and mailing hand made pillowcases to the entire crew including the Marines.  We are beginning on Monday, 1-12 and we mail in "waves" until we are finished.  Yes, the pun is intended, I am a Navy mom.  Well, I am really a mom of a Navy veteran, but once a Navy mom always a Navy mom.

If you can sew and would like to make some, we welcome your help.

It's really nice when the families of the ships help with donations of fabric, shipping $ and making pillowcases..  HAE is a grassroots group that is totally done with donations.

Thanks!

Beth, I would think that you should be hearing from him soon. If you don't hear from him in a few days please contact the ship's ombudsman team at lsd45ombudsman@gmail.com.

Stillmom my son is on the Comstock also, and we went out there we stayed at Quality Inn in Mission Valley close to the base in San Diego. They also give us a Military discount. I can't remember the rates but they weren't too expensive. Welcome, to the family.

My son was just transferred back to San Diego 2 days ago and has been assigned to the USS Comstock. Last time I was there to visit him, he was on Coronado island. Where's the best place I can find info about where to stay to see him when I head down?

My daughter graduated bc 8/6/10 and has been on the ship since november 2010 and is in for 4 years she found the long deployment hard as she married not long before that but she made it through and im really proud of her.  Our family used to live in San Diego(now in Nevada) so she has many friends  and some family there which helps,we/I still keep in touch with families/sailors from boot camp graduation and friends that I made during the deployment, as I was able to go down and see the ship leave.  Your son will get into the Navy routine and make friends it will just take time, all you can do is listen and be there for him, call/write /email when you can and he can, send a care pacakge from home with some of his fav stuff in!

Hope that this helps,
