phones:   it's my understanding that to use the pay phones they need "ship to shore" phone cards to use them on the ship.  and the International ones don't work.  but maybe my son did not try hard enough to use the Int'l ones he was given last cruise.

okay here is the link from where I said 5th fleet...which of course is millions of sq miles of ocean somewhere in the Pacific...haven't quite found the "borders" for any of the different fleets yet.

http://www.navy.mil/navydata/navy_legacy_hr.asp?id=146

go to www.navy.mil.  then there headings US Navy today then the tab status of the Navy.   frequent updates on ships... I'm figuring that they are somewhere near (=/- several miles)  the B.

Yes I read the 5th fleet as a jurisdiction on a Navy site. I will get the the link but I'm posting a picture link first.  This was on my Google alerts, shows them on a picnic on the ship,  don't know if anyone recognizes LO's or not.

@Cheffiona There are pay phones on the ship, really!!!, so if we send our sailors pre-paid phone cards once the pay phones are turned on they can use them to call their families?

Good morning E1

fb is working now just chatted with Bridgette finally we have been doing the email back and forth all day and night lol!

I have been told not to discuss anything about the ship whether its on the news or on the web or in the paper or on a Navy web site!  Its possible location or where we think it may be going!  I dont know anything and as long as i get to chat with Bridgette as many times as I can a day im ok with that!

Bridgette said she has still not got anymore packages she will get them eventually! Like i have said before 4 packages will all arrive at the same time and her an her (berthies) as I call them can have a party with all the goodies lol but I will send another one probably monday as now I woke up with a migraine I am so sick of being sick been in bed all morning only cos my phone went off that she was on fb did i get up and get on here and thought I would check out the latest on NFM!

The payphones are working on board now but not turned on so I know that at her party before deployment bunch of her friends bought her phone cards to I know she will use them aswell as her cell!

Hope you all hear from your sailors!  May God Bless them and keep them all safe!

I was responding to the post that said she "relooked it up.....admittedly they are in the 5th fleet"  So obviously she read that someplace.  My mistake is that I should not have added "yet"  I don't know if they will be there or where they will be.  The main thing I've learned being a Navy wife, things change and change and change some more.

I agree, once news is released it's not a problem. I was reacting to the post that said something that "hasn't happened yet"-- it sounds like maybe information that has not been released. If that's not the case, I apologize.

Well, we were talking about being nervous about the possibility of no payment on April 1st.  And I wouldn't think there would be a reason to be nervous about the ships movement if the Navy is releasing it as they did when they entered in to the 7th fleet.
Comment by susanm on March 17, 2011 at 10:54am
I'm not nervous about the mail delay-- it isn't unusual. But if people start talking about where the ship is going when, that makes me very nervous.
Comment by BM3Simswife on March 17, 2011 at 10:18am
Navynana-Im not nervous only because I'm sure they will get it resolved or there will be a lot of unhappy people.

Elaine- Where did you read that they are in the 5th? Its my understanding that hasn't happened yet.
