FIRST TIME HERE?

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO GET STARTED:

Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Just go to google.com and type in google alerts. Then follow the steps. See if it works. After that.

Cheffiona-did you check in your spam folder? It may have gone in there. Google alerts sends you a confirmation email and then you click the link to approve it and then you will start receiving email alerts. I did it yesterday and I've already gotten 3 alerts.

So not quite sure how to get these emails i set it up as said below and have not had an email set to my hotmail account!

My Google alerts go to my regular email account not Navy for Moms.   sorry for the confusion.  not sure what you mean by "verify".  On my main email account I get mail from "google alerts" and I look at it if it's a link I want to see based on what else is mentioned in the small sentence I look at it, sometimes it's ads for merchandise that have USS Comstock on sometimes it's news articles about the ship that has been released by the Navy.

Elane L --  set up google alert -- but can't 'verify' when the email comes back. Any ideas? Will check with my daughter too --
