@ccNavyMom.   last time around I stay at the cheapest motel I good find that was a "name brand" so hopefully not too dumpy.   I was right across the tracks from the base they were at...I think it was a Super 8 but I can look for the details.  I'll be coming in from NE again, if plans go as I hope.

I bought my daughter-in-law and grand kids web cams so my son can talk to them when he is in port so I will have to tell him to make his way to mcdonalds since you (cheffiona) and your daughter were able to get wifi there. Hey cheffiona my daughter's name is Bridget also. She is in college going through ROTC for Army. Soon I will have two in the service.

@Michelle that was nice of you to offer some where to stay

Spoke to Bridgette again today her and her friends rented a car yesterday and did some tourist things went to a paro did not get the name but took a ton of pics and posted a couple and will post more later  I asked her again is there anything you want me to send you and again she said no so I will keep filling boxes with goodies for her and to share with her "berth buddies" gonna send some homemade stuff like i did in A school and vacumn seal them hopefully will get there in ok condition!  She has bought me my Hawaiian Coffee I asked for !  Yeah!!!

Yes I get the OPSEC thing, just a comment when the ships deployed it was all over the tv in san diego,  I did not know 3 ships were leaving that morning until i saw it on tv thought it was just our ship! even at 5.45am on base in mcdonalds they were talking about it where they were going, whats ships were leaving and at what time I was quite surprised that they did that!! Oh and who the ships was also carrying! There are sites all over the internet where people can find out "if they want to" this information its not exaclty top secret!  But it makes sense to not help those that would do harm and damage to our sailors!  Just wanted to comment!

@navynana I know that FRG stands for Family Readiness Group and I think OPSEC stands for Operational Security, but I have no idea what ARG stands for.

Comment by navynana on March 2, 2011 at 12:00pm

I need some help...FRG/OPSEC/ARG. What do they stand for?

@ 2 ----thank you for your word of caution and information.

@navymom you are very welcome to stay at my home since hotels can be expensive in San Diego, this offer is open to anyone coming in from out of town/state. I live about 2 hours away from San Diego.

@2 in the service thank you for the info on the Ombudsman. I will get an e-mail to my son about adding me. And thanks for the reminder about what info/statements we make here.
