This is my son's first deployment. I am praying for my son, and all of your sailors as well.

We will not be going to Mayport on Friday. I hope you have a great time there. I hope to be there when they come back.

Is anyone planning on going to Mayport next Friday?  I'd love to meet any other moms - or family.  Four of my kids and I are going to be staying at the Navy Lodge on Thursday night.  It would be great to have a little get together!....Candy

Would like to say a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. I also have my son home for the New Year leave..he returns on Monday..this week has flown by. He has used the snow blower and shoveled walks since he has been home!! Just like old times. He is enjoying spending time with his old friends and I have also gotten to catch with them!!!! Many memories are being made...

It kind of brings home the real meaning of Christmas and you realize having your family safe and all together is the best gift you could have.

Anybody want or know of anyone who would want two little black and white kittens?  My son found them abandoned & wandering in the street.  We put up signs and went door to door without any luck.  We've had them 3 weeks trying to find a home.  I'm willing to drive anywhere in the state to keep them from going to a shelter that will kill them if they aren't adopted in a short time.  They are little girls, probably about 4 months old.  If its a deciding factor, I will have them spayed and get shots for them.

I'm hoping to, but if not I can drive up with some of my family on Friday and take him out to dinner.  Being together is all that really matters - not the day.  His fiance is in Chicago and I know he is hoping she will be able to come down for either Thanksgiving or Christmas, depending on his schedule.  They're trying to plan a wedding, but with him going for more schooling in San Diego early next year and then not knowing exactly where, when or how long he will be in Florida makes it hard.  I know he would like to just elope the next time she comes down but she wants a nice wedding with friends and family.  He looks at the wedding as a party they can have after they are actually married.  I've tried to explain to him that girls have dreams from the time they are little about what their wedding will be like.  I also told him I'm going to send him a copy of Women Are From Venus, Men Are From Mars...lol

I can understand why you are so proud of your sailor.  What a thoughtful and unselfish thing to do.  You obviously raised him well. :)

His fiance is in Chicago and I know he's hoping she can come down for Thanksgiving or Christmas. They are trying to plan a wedding but so much depends on when he goes to his next school in San Diego and when the ship leaves and for how long. He'd like to just elope whenever he sees her, but I know she wants a nice wedding with family and friends. He keeps telling her they could do that later and I keep trying to explain girls and how they usually have dreams about what their wedding is going to be. I also told him I'm going to send him Women Are From Venus, Men Are From Mars..lol
Debbie, thats so wonderful of your son to be so thoughtful and unselfish. You must have raised him well. :)
