Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and to the group. My fiance is on the Dubuque and this is our first deployment. So far, it's not as bad as I thought it would be... it's probably because I'm so busy at work too. I've learned to realize that even though we are apart, I have to be thankful for email, FB, video chat (when at a port visit)...etc. It could be worse! Of course there are bad days where I can't help being depressed- but I have to stay positive. I hope that I can be a positive friend for all of you as well. : )

Glad everyone seems to be doing well.

Can't tell if Lee's really excited to get to the next port or not. He's so worried about me that he doesn't want to spend any money. I told him he's fine and I already set aside what we're going to need for the begining of the month but he's still concerned. It's cute how he worries over me. Lol I love him dearly. :]
He is at least telling me about some of the tours the MWR is putting out. Sounds kind of cool. Wish I could go there and enjoy them too!! Uhg, if only I were a stay at home wife. hehe, I tease him with that all the time, that once I get out, I don't want to ever work again. I don't think i could keep my sanity like that... especially if our kids turn out anything like him. Dear goodness! What trouble he used to be.

I'm glad you all enjoy my posts! :] I love getting on here and letting ya'll know what's going on. It definitely makes me happy.

I love the mother's day stories!! Too funny!!!! Your boys are hilarious. Our Mother's day definitely wasn't memorable in such a sense, considering that was right before Lee's dad passed away. Ooooh, that stunk. And I didn't get to see my mother much either. It was unfortunate, but such is life I suppose.

After reading all your posts I emailed Lee to tell him I wanted some T-shirts from this next port and that they should be matching, and don't count as souviners. Lol! Poor thing. :] We despise the ship sooo, command shirts would be out of the question. But I made him save his old uniforms and I told him he has to save all his old ball caps too. He complains that they're stinky and gross. I don't care.

Ope gotta go, be back soon!

I have a collection of t-shirts put away which hubby collected during Desert Shield. Yes, when he was on the Dubuque in the Persian Gulf, the units would trade shirts. I haven't looked at them in years, but I think there's Desert Ducks and a few Seabee units? No fit me, and he's bulked up in the shoulders, so I doubt he could wear them either now. We do have his ship's ballcap somewhere. A shame the Navy won't let them wear their ballcaps anymore, that was a big deal for us.

Pam, Actually the reason for going back was a bit different, lol. But remember when liberty got secured? Yeah that was why. The testosterone packed idiots.

Btw, I believe they'll be hitting another port before communication stops. :) so don't be too anxious. Lol

marggie and Julie, glad you got to hear from your boys! Sorry Anthony is having issues with his girl. If he feels that she needs someone to talk to you can give them my email-- n.alexandra.bell@gmail.com. :) I know it's hard when they don't have a good understanding of what's going on and how things work and even worse if they don't have another girl there who gets it, you know? :)

I've thought about getting my own flowers whole sale and arranging them. I hear they last longer that way and what not. I LOVE the fishbowl idea!!! Too cute!! :)

anti m-- I'm sorry you got sick on your trip!!! :( that's no fun!
I have my main "engagment" ring, lol. Now just trying to find a band. Lee's more concerned about it than I am, lol!!!

Howdy everyone, I'm catching up. We went camping for our fire festival this weekend, and of course it rained. I developed a bad cough Saturday and hubby wouldn't let me near the big fire spinner/dancer show. He didn't want me around the fuels (we're the fuel masters) and the smoke of the big burn. Boo!

RHW, we got our rings two years after we married. Plain gold bands, but we rarely wore them because as ETs, we had to remove them for work anyway. He is tough on rings, I finally got him a titanium band. He's managed to ding that!! I have a wonderful anniversary ring I wear as my band. It is channel-set with diamonds, lovely. We were staying at the New Sanno on Tokyo for our 11th anniversary, he hid it in my drink. I nearly swallowed it!

Pamela, that is a moving story, what a wonderful memory.

My parents were together for over 60 years. Dad's just hanging around, waiting to be with mom. Kinda sad and sweet.

We are indeed. [since before we ever got married lol! Lee wants to be part of the whole planning thing]. I'm trying to keep the budget low and do pretty much everything myself. My uncle is a pastor and will be doing the ceremony, my side of the family doesn't really drink much, his side CAN'T drink much [so the majority of that will be for us and friends], only doing some appetizers and subs for the food [who really cares about wedding food anyway? haha], found a professional bakery though for the cake and she's cutting me a good deal. I might cut the photography and just pay for my aunt's boyfriend's flight, found out his pictures are just nearly the same quality and I love the style! Finding a cheaper dress than the one I was originally looking at and found a venue that's lovely for what I want and a good price. Still gotta figure out what I'm going to do for flowers and cheap linens. I want nice pictures, so I want everything to still look perfect and have that formal feeling, but without being expensive that it takes up all our deployment savings! Cause we still want to get a decent truck to replace his old, rickety car. Lol

Oh wow, that's wild! I can't even imagine what that must have been like. What an amazing renewel that must have been though. :] <3

Oh no! Reminisce away!! Please. I love it. :] My family isn't successful with the happily ever afters [I think I'm the first to marry a sweet, good man, and to marry purely for love], my mother's been married for a while now, but not happily at all. You won't catch them saying "i love you" [unfortunate]. So it's nice to hear about other peoples happy marriages. I love it!

Haha, I'm looking forward to my tomorrow! A couple needed days off. :] Working this weekend.

Good to know your boys are busy too. Guess that's why everyone else has been quiet as well. Lol.

Well, on the bright side I went wedding band shopping, LOL! I'm married and have no wedding band. Makes Lee a little nuts but we 1) couldn't afford it at the time and 2) will have our actual ceremony when he gets back. Lol, figure I can have one then. He had my ring custom made and it's raised in teh middle, so I'm having a hard time finding a ring that looks good/natural with it. Hmmm! ;p

That sounds great! How fun for you guys! :]\

Yeah, between the laptop breaking [and quite literally, everything else going wrong] and not hearing much from Lee, I haven't had a whole lot to talk about. Lol. They were supposed to man the rails yesterday and have some pictures taken, but apparently they decided not to do that. I was disappointed at that news. I'd like to hunt down a picture of him like that. I love my handsome Sailor. <3 :] To see him like that would be amazing.
But he can't even really tell me in code where they're going or what they're doing, which drives me nuts. I don't know. Lol. Going crazy over here.

Haha, Nice. :] I'm so excited!! Lee's Chief put him in charge of charting the coordinates on the maps and what not [which is a heafty collateral because those change ALL the time!!!!] so his Chief just took him off the watchbill and now Lee basically makes his own hours. :D He still works 12+ hours through the day, but now he's able to break them up instead of do 6on 6off twice a day. :] Hopefully he'll start being a little less cranky and I'll hear from him a little more now [the only time I was hearing from him was right after work for a couple minutes and then when I was in bed, AH! lol].

I miss you ladies. Been busy at work lately and to add to all my other problems at home, my computer broke down too!! :[ So now I just have my ipod, which is being finicky.. Lame. How are you all doing though??
Comment by RightHereWaiting on June 9, 2010 at 10:39pm
It's ok. <3 I feel better today. Though his emails are short and few since he has the midwatch now. Lame! Finally got a couple days off. :] Going to TRY and enjoy them. Babysitting my friend/coworkers 2 and a half month old tomorrow. lol!
