GLORY!!! Praise my Lord and Father!! I got a FB post from my son last night!!!
God is teaching me so much through alll this.
This is my sons first deployment. He just graduated from boot camp back in March.Prior him joining the navy, our relationship was very rocky while his last couple years of highschool. That will explain to you what I've said before - he does not communicates with me that much.
However, the Navy has been a "God Thing". We are both healing and the FB post he sent me last night was wonderful!! I know he is growing up, maturing and i know and claim God is shaping his life.
I am also amazed at the fact that i am writting to people that do not know me or I don't know and I feel comfortable sharing this feelings with.
I guess it is because i've realized like some one else put it "we are in the same boat" and so are our children or loved ones : LITERALLY!!! Thet are in THE SAME BOAT - DUBUQUE!!
I wonder sometimes if they know each other... or if I ever will get to know any of you personally - and still we are connected.
Thank you all. Thank you for being there. At the other side of my lap top and in my thoughts , prayers and life.

I'm stronger than I ever imagined. When my daughter talks to him on face book she always tells me. It always makes me happy. Ur right. It does give me a sense of relief. By the way. U guys are awesome. I have been a navy mom for 2years nice to know others are on the same boat with me. Y'all have a great day.

I have not heard from my son since their last port. He turned 21 last Sunday. I was so excited to see how many happy birthdays he received. I know he say them and that made me smile. I'm glad I found this group. I kinda felt lost by now I am found by other parents of the MIGHTY 8!!!

We just don't post ships location or movement here since this is such a public site, but they're done there and moving on now so it's good. lol Once the information is "released" by the command then it is free to be shared.

CAROL, Thank you, THANK YOU!! thank you! for posting the FB links.
I do not watch the news much and my son does not comunicates with me that often. This forum is my only source of news. Is there a place or person I need to go to get newsletters??
Any info is very much appreciatted. Thanks

As for the blackout, whenever there is any kind of investigation or action happening, they cut off communications so there are no leaks.

I didn't know 100% where they were or what they were doing, but I put it together from experience. They were nearby, and there were US humanitarian missions. Isn't hard to figure out. Our 8 does a lot of that type of thing, especially after the bad juju with the boat people. Now THERE was a CO who got punished.

All I've got to say is.. Seriously? Uhg... the dumbest things that people do... Why Navy? Why??

And I agree Carol! Facebook is wonderful! Lol My husband never manages to get on but he's really good about emailing... at least to me, and his mom as far as I know. <3

And just to update you Carol. I know their location and current mission is posted all over but do be careful with such information. And if you haven't already read the rules on OPSEC. :] Oh! And I suggest going onto the Dubuque's homepage and emailing the Ombudsman to receive the newsletters. They're super helpful and awesome ladies.

I got an email last night and today as well! Lee said there was a reason for the email being down, but no one is allowed to say anything. Lame! I'm snooping on google. Lol.

Hope everyone is doing well!!! <3

Julie, good news! Hope this works well for him. And that he tells you as soon as he can, LOL.

I have to keep track of my sailor through his GF's FB page. I'm not blood relation, so he doesn't think to tell me how he's doing.
