Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

I love the Australian news and photos. The best pictures that I have seen of the Essex have been from Australian news photos. I am in awe of the hospital on board. I am thankful for the great reception that the Australians have shown our sailors. With all the negative news of our soldiers around the world, it is great to hear a country gave our sailors a 4th of July parade and a welcome stay.

How wonderful to hear about your garden and future bountiful harvest! Sounds wonderful!

Katie bought herself a laptop before leaving for A school. She has me send pics to her personal e-mail, not the navy one so she can download to it. Katie said that worked best. She also downloaded most of her CDs so she would have her favorite music.

I check the essex site and the 7th fleet news. The 7th fleet news posts regular pictures and has the article on the USS Essex successful Talisman Saber.

Katie e-mailed and said the Talisman Saber was over and that she would be getting 2 days of Liberty in Brisbane. Hoping to go horseback riding.

My son gave me an address in California to ship online orders to. He uses it when he purchases games online. They charge him to pick it up. So it is cheaper (and possibly faster) to ship things to yourself and then ship it to his FPO address.

Cindi,
My son said there is another address for shipping to him. He has to pay a fee to use it.

Kim, my son is turning 25 this year also. September 26th. It seems we have a lot of Essex sailors with birthdays in September.
