Katie's just rec'd email said "I'm a SHELL BACK!" It's already Wednesday for them ;) For some reason they are conserving water right now - so no laundry duty for Katie right now.

Katie said "We have been having good waters lately. It is really nice. I have been
sleeping like a baby it is great." Said they shoudl be getting mail very very soon - she's hoping to finally get the care packages from her Grandma. Katie said she may be able to call when they got to port, but not to count on it.

Your Welcome! I know how much it means to mean when I get an e-mail! I love reading it no matter how short or long.

Heard from Katie and this is what she had to say to all the USS Essex Moms about hearing from their sailors "Tell the moms not to worry, we are all working hard and long hours. Some get short lunch and dinner breaks and never really get the chance to get online. They may also have watch and go to bed right after. I don't know maybe some just don't email cause our day to day really doesnst change much from float to float, it is usually the same. I just try to make a point of doing so whenever I can.'
I read they picked up 1,400 Marines in Okinawa + equipment. Katie's grandma mailed her a package w/cookies in it and keeps wondering when it will arrive. Katie says they won't get mail/packages again until the next 'replenishment'. She received her brother's graduation announcement when they were in white beach/okinawa.

Katie told me that I should send her pics via her home e-mail address NOT the Navy one, otherwise she couldn't download them to her computer. While at sea she said that she would only be able to use her military e-mail and couldn't be on things like facebook, etc. That she wouldn't be able to download pics to the computer in the 'shop'. That may have something to do with why Hans can't send you his pics via his ship address. Katie plans on downloading her pics to her computer and then copying them to a disc herself and mailing them home. At least that's her plan for now.

Kim... he didn't say why not. He lost the power cord for his computer so I don't know how he is going to email me the pictures.

Good idea Julie. Apparantly they can't send pictures from their navy email account. I just emailed Jonathan pictures of his brothers graduation. I wonder if he got them.

Nice to hear all your news. Are all your sailors as excited as mine? My son has promised me pictures this time.

A DC mom on the USS GW posted this link for rack packs www.navyrackpacks.com in response to a navy mom's request. Never gone to the site, but this is one they are recommending
